99.In any realm of life—whether academic, social, business, or political—the only way to succeed is to take a practical, rather than an idealistic, point of view. Pragmatic behavior guarantees survival, whereas idealistic views tend to be superceded by simpler, more immediate options.

I disagree with the author insofar as that the only way to succeed is to take a  
practical view rather than an idealistic one. In my pint of view, idealism is very  
crucial for long-term success in any endeavor whether it be in academic, social,  
business and political reform.

In the first place, idealism is the guidance of the realism. Many people can  
succeed finally since they have a thorough idea and then try their best to achieve  
the dream which  make our society more democratic, free and flourishing. For example, in politic, in order to liberate the black man and  administer them the same rights as white people, Martin Luther King devoted his all time to this idea and even his life. In art, although Monet was very poor in all life, he did  not give up his dream and continued to create paintings. They have great achievements finally. If they have not these ideas or they have given up it in order to make their lives more realistic, they must not have these effects.

In the second place, the function of idea is to give us power and orientation. Only the idea can avoid us getting in near-sighted. The aim of developing the science  
and technology is to make our life more convenient and beatific, but we can not  
damage the human's essential benefits only for the short-term purposes.  For  
example, companies and factories contaminate environment in order to make high  
profits, although they have achieved their current purposes--money, it harm the  
long-term benefits of people and lead many damages--most of which are not restored  
and regenerated. So we have to exert ourselves for idea and the practicalism is  
just an instrument for achieving the final dream.

Admittedly, practicalism and idealism would have been integrated well. we do not  
change the idea into phantasy because it is usually unrealistic. Take the Utopia  
and perpetual motion machine as examples, Moore consider that people would live in  
a perfect society called Utopia, in which people need not to work and they can gain anything they want since all the property is mutual. In fact, the society likes  
Utopia can not exist in practical society. The same to the Utopia, perpetual motion machine also do not exist in our society because it disobeys the law of action and  
reaction that so long as the friction is in existence, the  machine can not motion  
perpetually without any outside force. Without help of practice, idea will change  
into phantasy easily, therefore, ideal is not divorced from practice.

In sum, from what has been discussed above, we may draw the conclusion that   
idealistic views are very important to people' successes in any realm of life,and  
it can not be replaced by simpler, more immediate options.

但是第三段In the second place, the function of idea is to give us power and orientation，你的topic sentence 与你下面的论证不是很吻合，有些牵强，你只是指出了一些short-term purposes 的不足。
你的论点是straight disagreement,但如果是这样的话（按照你的论证的步骤），我感觉你的论证思路更象straddle the fence。
