No field of study can advance significantly unless outsiders bring their knowledge and experience to that field of study.

I strongly agree with the assertion that the interaction of different fields of study could lead to significantly advance of the one subject. Otherwise, the subject will suffer from narrow scope of perspective, or even meet a dead end.

Unless in the time of our ancestors, today we are in an era with unprecedented civilization and sophisticated fast pacing science and technology. In the old days, subjects are not as specific as it is now. As a researcher, he should have good command of nearly every kinds of knowledge so as to make great improvement in the study. For example, as we all know,
Adam Smith was one of those 18th century Scottish moral philosophers whose impulse led to our modern day theories. People who were not familiar with his life may surprise to see that Smith wrote his famous book "economics" as a philosopher. One must appreciate that in the days of Smith the courses taught at universities are history and philosopher. That philosophy includes a study of jurisprudence, which leads to various legal systems, then leads to government, of course in turn to a study of political economy. Therefore, the original of many fields of study today may be a same one yesterday, since the corn idea of them are similar.

Sometimes, with the knowledge and experience beyond one's specified studies, he may achieve greater advancement; otherwise, his study may encounter difficulties and even be impeded. An even striking example of how experience in diverse fields of is needed to advance knowledge involves the area of physics and mathematics. It is quite common that in some high schools, teachers always say:" Unless you study mathematics well, your grade of physics won't be enhanced. “I don't believe his words at the beginning, since I don't take as much interests in mathematics as in physics. After several days of study, I understand what the teacher means. Since Mathematics is taught you a kind of tools to calculate or take good use of the statistics conclude by the experiment on physics classes, it is a fundamental course to several fields of further study besides physics. That is why we have to learn it ever since we stated elementary tool. This is a simple example, but we can conclude from it that there are some interactions between different fields of study.

In addition, knowledge and experience from outsiders can provide different aspects of thinking, and may lead to inspiration, creation, and new discoveries. The further we go into one subject, the narrower we find the way is and the more difficult the proceeding will be. That is because we only see the thing from one aspect and hardly change the method we look at it. Likewise, outsiders may also meet the same dilemma. Imagine if they sit together to discuss the same problem, sometimes they will overcome the obstacle at the same time. For instance, when British biologist Click meets Watson, an American biologist, things began to change. After efforts of them, they successfully proposed a spiral model, the double helix, for the molecular structure of DNA. They shared a 1962 Nobel Prize for the advantage studies of genetics, which called a genetic engineering.

As it stands, we have only one world. Each study was divided by human beings in order to study our world in more details. Thus each field of study should have to take effort together to make a whole atmosphere of investigation.
