Argument29 让砖头来得更猛烈些吧!
------摘要------

------题目------
When Ida McAllister ran for mayor of Lake City four years ago, she failed to win even 30 percent of the vote. But since then, McAllister has made public her commitment to environmental causes. She would be wise, therefore, to announce her intention to close all Lake City parks to automobile traffic, thus following the example of the former mayor of Plainsville, Alecia Yu . On the recommendation of a small group of concerned citizens, Mayor Yu prohibited automobile traffic in all Plainsville parks, and therefore was credited with solving the pollution problem and improving the quality of life in Plainsville. This action would have great appeal to the citizens of Lake City, most of whom participate in the community's recycling program, and would guarantee McAllister's success in her current quest to be Lake City's new mayor.
------正文------
Merely based upon the dubious and unfounded evidence, the arguer attempts to convince us that McAllister's success in her current quest to be Lake City's new mayor is guaranteed. To substantiate his claim, the arguer indicates that McAllister has made public her commitment to environmental causes and close all Lake City parks to automobile traffic. In addition, he assumes that McAllister's action would be popular among the citizens of Lake City. Furthermore, the arguer indicates that to imitate the example of Mayor Yu of another city will lead to McAllister's success. As the argument stands, several important concerns, which the arguer fails to emphasize, may undermine the line of reasoning.
The first and most glaring err in logical lies in the fact that only by commitment to environmental causes is not enough to lead to McAllister's popularity. Because there are a number of affairs what a mayor has to handle. Moreover, the arguer infers that to announce to close all Lake City parks to automobile traffic is a wise action, However, it is quite possible that the automobile drivers complain about this announcement and hence do not support McAllister.
In addition, another major problem with the argument is that the stated similarities between McAllister and Alecia Yu are insufficient to support the conclusion that McAllister would finally win the election. Because, as has been clearly inferred in the statement, only a small group of concerned citizens recommended Mayor Yu to prohibit automobile traffic in all Plainsville parks. That is to say, most citizens may not support this action and may not advocate Mayor Yu. Nevertheless, only by solving the pollution problem and improving the quality of life in far from enough to reflect a good mayor.
Furthermore, do most citizens of Lake City who participate in recycling program really interested in McAllister's action on closing all Lake City parks to automobile traffic? It is not necessarily so. Since problem on automobile traffic and recycling are two identified part of environment. It is quite possible they will complain that McAllister ignores the recycling problem and conflict rather than support her.
In summary, the reasoning seems rational as presented above. However, the conclusion reached in this argument proves misleading and invalid. To better evaluate the argument, we need more valid evidence and reasonable argumentation.
