Issue38: 431 words 45 minutes
In the age of television, reading books is not as important as it once was. People can learn as much by watching television as they can by reading books.
-------------------------------------------------------
Nowadays, the authority of traditional learning method such as reading books is facing challenge [from?? I’m not sure.] new mass communication approaches. Some people believes that in the age of television, we can learn as much by watching TV[建议全文都用全称] rather [than 没有more,不构成比较关系吧。]reading books. However, as far as I am concerned, although TV has merits that books cannot match, it is impossible for TV to substitute books in the future.
Admittedly, owning to new information technology, it is more convenient to learn information by watching TV. For instance, students can attend classes and have lessons by long-distance learning programs via TV; common people can be aware of what has happened 5,000 miles away from their homes; citizens can hear president's speech only by sitting in sofa and [staring 换一个吧] at the screen. All these daily experience illustrates that watching TV actually save us much time in gathering information we want in this fast-changing society.[题目是在和书做对比,这些例子可以举,但要结合书来说]
However, [although TV might be more convenient and comfortable,: more convenient and comfortable as watching television might be,变换一下句式 ] its merits depend on other factors which might make the[no the] TV less independent and more vulnerable. In order to function properly, TV relies on [electricity and program signals. If there is a power-off, a lack of battery, no cables to receive satellite signals, the TV box cannot work开始跑了吧。题目说的是看电视能不能和看书学的一样多。暗含了电视和书都能available的前提。不是那个方便]. As a result, its advantages in enhancing learning are impossible. On the contrary, reading books offers more [freedom同上,内容的比较。不是方便的比较]. No matter whether there is a power-off or not, we can put books in our pockets and read it whenever we want. [In this contrast没见过], we know that although learning by watching TV[ seems with less effort???], it depends on electricity and signals, which might turn the TV's advantages into disadvantages.
Moreover, another shortcoming of watching TV is [distraction感觉还是有些跑。。。看书还有小说什么的在一边诱惑着], which harms our learning [effectiveness同上,不是效率的比较] severely. [At present, lots of TV stations are owned by companies and operated by business managers. In order to generate more profits, they produced huge amount of entertaining programs to appeal to the masses' interests at one hand, and broadcast advertisements as many as possible at the other hand. As a result, people who are accustomed to watching TV might be not only indulged in these superficial entertainments and also be exposed to too much junk information such as ads. In other words, we are more likely be distracted from learning when watching TV, and the convenience in learning that TV can offer turns into a counterproductive force.同跑。]
In conclusion, although watching TV might provide us more convenience in learning, the merit is not warranted. According to the disadvantages of TV mentioned above, learning by reading books might be indispensable in people's learning.
[把题目再想想吧。这是一道比较的题目,但你只列了一方的有缺点,特别是,这些优缺点我认为不是题目要你比较的。可以参考一下我的同主题。本文的一个教训可能是:限时一定要审清题!] |
