文中提到1920’s之前主要的工具有:train, Electric railways,bicycles及 Horse-drawn coaches及car，而The steam railroad offered the best, the most reliable and the fastest means of transport.！言外之意是steam powered trains最好！
寄托和太傻给的答案都是错误的！

这个题目中D是错误的，文中提到了train和trams and trolleys两者之间的竞争，但没说trams 和 trolleys之间的竞争！！！！并没说trams 和 trolleys之间的竞争改变了travel！文中有句话:  It took the mass production and ownership of cars, together with increased attention to road construction, to bring the major breakthrough in travel in the 192Q*s.其中对道路建设关注增加和improved roads意思还有点沾边，而D绝对是文中没有说的！

这道题似乎答案选D 错了。美国传统词典：代理。应该选A

这个题觉得有问题，hampered是阻碍的意思，应该选A吧。
