"As we acquire more knowledge, things do not become more comprehensible.but more complex and more mysterious."   

It seems to be true that as we acquire more knowledge, we feel that things do not become more simplified, but more complicated and more confusing. However, i have to say that it's too superficial to come to that conclusion.
One of the causes that people think this way may be that the discoveries scientists make are too quickly for the public to comprehend. That is to say, too many informations and messages are exposed to the most common people and they don’t have enough time and chances to get to know all of them thoroughly. So, they feel helpless, confusing and complicated when they read about those new technologies. As to the science, that is about some atoms, molecules, even quantus. Take the Heliocentric theory for example, hundreds of years ago, people know little about astronomy and things seems going on well until Nicolas Copernicus told the world that the earth is not the center of the universe and there are thousands of millions of stars out there. All through these year’s hard work, we do know more clearly about how human beings and the earth that we live come into being. And that is not as complicated as people thought years ago.
Before Cristóbal Colón found the New land and the world map were done, cultures between countries were like myth to one and another. Right after the Open policy, China has been more popular than before. Communications eliminate the mysterious feelings.
One of the biggest advantages that we take from more knowledge is that we no longer feel frustrated and being at a loss when disasters come. As we are armed with much more knowledge, we see things in the future, such as earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. Life goes much easier that way.
We also have to admit that when we know more, we know that there is more to know. But that is not out of our reach. The best example may be the big event of human beings landing on the moon. It is not as that hard as we thought. And by the way, the Mars are our next target.
