What does the true innovation result from is an interesting question. Some people who concentrate on the whole product or services containing the innovation would insist on that it is the team from which the true innovation results, under the influence of the prevail view of the teamwork.  After careful observation of the process of  formation of new products and services and a comparison between the new and the old, however, I would agree that without the enterprise and unique perception of an individual, no innovation would exists.

Firstly, we need clarify the definition of the innovation, which would help us differentiate the function of the unique ideas and that of other details of the final products. The innovation mostly concerns with the new ideas or components containing in the product and services, rather than the others. It is the different part of the product that could contain the potential innovation. Furthermore, it is the change in the core of the product that could be called innovation. Therefore, through judgments of the kernel technology or idea of a new product and service, people could make sure whether there exists innovation, regardless of other details.

From the angle above, the enterprise and unique perceptions of an individual are the most significant factors among all the ones in an innovation. Considering the process of creating new ideas, we cannot deny the function of many methods which trigger people to think without restrictions, such as brainstorm, which is the incubator of the idea of innovation. We may find, however, that the primary unique thought which is finally adopted would come from an individual, who bears the enterprise and enthusiasm, although the idea may be modified through the discussion later on. A research conducted by a group of people would consistently study people's activities in the process of work of research and innovation concludes that over eighty percent of the innovations were derived from the thought of one member in the team and the enterprise of the right person determine the final function of the innovation.

Admittedly, a new idea is just an idea. Without other details as opponents of the whole product, it cannot display its significant function. In the modern society, people care more about enjoying the product than the innovative thought it contains. As a consequence, any innovative thought cannot depart from its specific carrier to make function.

To sum up, although the innovative idea needs its carrier which worked out by a team, from the definition of the innovation, we can figure out clearly that the important status of the determination and unique thinking of an individual in the innovation.
