对于这个critical的意义,还是弄不清楚
对于艺术家和运动员来说,critical是为了激励自己
对于另外一些情况而言,critical是为了追求更好
但是也不那过分的critical,否则会有负面效果,降低效率.
It's easily to find people who are committed to an idea or policy deeply, but are they always the most critical of it? I concede it is a instinct for some people, nevertheless, it is not always the case.
Firstly, I agree with the assertion that people are temping to be strict with something when they devote themselves completely to it, especially in the fields of arts and sports. To many outstanding artists or athletes, they never fell content with their accomplishment, because artists always find the work is far from his or her former ideas, and athletes are compelled to break the records. This is a instinct for pursing the better. For instance, a painter might re-paint millions of times since the paint is less perfect; a poet might re-write several times since the poem recites less fluently; a composer might re-compose again and again since the lyric sounds less emotional. To artists, they are variably incited by their new inspiration that they easily find fault with their finished works. Under this circumstance, to be critical of ideas or works is understandably, because it is a serious attitude to their jobs which help them get impetus for their creative works. The same true is with athletes who are ambitious about their career will always be critical with their records.
Aside this situation, people easily be critical of something because they want to make it better. Just as parents always play a keen eye on children since they want them grow up healthy, those who dedicate themselves to an idea or policy are always worry about the changeable situation since they wish for a better future. Take those protests form environmental groups for examples, sometimes, people think they are too enthusiastic about the whole matter and even to be too critical. However, to these volunteers, protests, parades, speeches, whatever they do is to alert the public to the pressing environmental problems. Their criticism and worry about the environment is seeking for a better solution rather than mere complaints. Therefore, being critical to an idea or policy is an earnest expression that can not be easily regarded as making a fuss.
Nevertheless, people should not be encouraged to be faultfinding with a concept all the time. Nothing in the world is forever perfect, so it's natural for people to find something unsatisfied. Undue emphasis on the faults is a sort of wasting time. For example, if a teacher always criticize students with their homework, while seldom praise them or encourage them. The result tends to be that students might lose the confidence and patience for study, which leads defection or psychology problems for them ultimately. Although the teacher possess a devotee for the job, his or her being too critical of the work hurts students, which will harm the teaching effects totally. So, being critical of an idea or policy should be with caveats.
To sum up, critical attitude toward an idea or concept is natural for people who are completely dedicated to it. It shows their auspicious and concern for future, which should be recommended. On the other hand, undue emphasis on the critics is captious which might result in counterproductive effects. |
