刚写了篇一样的,过来看看 呵呵
TOPIC: ISSUE 144 - "It is the artist, not the critic,* who gives society something of lasting value."
*a person who evaluates works of art, such as novels, films, music, paintings, etc.
WORDS: 463 TIME: 0:45:00 DATE: 2006-3-11
The statement claims that it is the critic ,whichwho interprets and criticizes the art whichthat gives society something of lasting value, not the artist who indeed creates it. In my part, I tend to hold a disagree opinion.
Admittedly, artists cannot leave想表达live? without the critic. The work of the artist reflects the life of people both spiritually and materially, but often through an artistic way that may be obscure to ordinary people. Here is where the critics function their value. By plainly interpreting the connotation of a artistic work, it主语要和前面一致,改成the critic helps the public to understand the meaning of the work and thus it could spread widely and be appreciated by most people. Consider, if few people understand the meaning that the artist tend to convey, how could he ever achieve his purpose of making the work, and not to say realize the great value. Another indispensable function that critic exerts is that he/she provides a standard to evaluate art works. He/she tells whether a film really reflects a profound phenomenon of the society successfully, whether a piece of painting really worth a certain price and should be displayed in the Louvre, and whether a sculpture worth imitation by the learners. The value of art work should not be determined by the artist who makes it, he may tend to acclaim work of himself is the best rather than others since many artists isare very confident about themselves. If every piece of work is such valuable, it means that none of them are of any significant value at all.语法错误比较多,语言和思维太中国式英语了,很多表达老外很难看懂的
The discussion above may be concluded as critic discovers the value of art work and helps people to determine the value. However, it never means that the lasting value could be ascribed to the critic. What I tend to emphasize is that with regard to the creator of art work which is of lasing value, the artist is the one and the only. It is the artist that uses his eye of deep sympathy, who discovers the happiness and misery of life, the ugly and dignity of the society. It is the artist who grasps his brush with great passion, depict in enlightening stork. Definitely it is not the critic who has ever achieved that. The sadist thing of Van Gogh is that the value of his work is never recognized until many years after his death in great desperation. Now people regard highly of his works, but no one remembers who discovered the beauty of his work. The real lasting value belongs to its creator -- the artist.
In summary, though it is the critic that help to uncover the obscuring veil of art work, it never makes the value. The artist will always be the creator of something of lasting value and be remembered by the people.
