观点：竞争合作对于年轻人成leader都是很重要的

:)There is always a controversy over which is more important, “competition" or "cooperation". While those leaders mentioned by the author above hold the opinions that their success are mainly attributed to a sense of competition, the author apparently emphasize a sense of cooperation referring the preparation of young people for leadership. In my view, I basically agree with the author about the importance of a sense of cooperation. Furthermore, I think a sense of competition is the principle of leaders while a sense of cooperation is the reinforcement.

As we all know, competition is a term widely used in several fields, including politics, sports, industry and other areas as competing itself is permeated every field of the society. General Baton had a famous proverb saying that a soldier without the ambition to be the General is not a qualified one. Here, I want to claim that a person without a sense of competition is impossible to be a leader. Without a sense of competition, people will become indolent and become satisfied with recent life no matter whether it is really decent or not. A famous person said that industry plays a crucial role in the process of success to 70 percents while intellect only constitutes the rest 30 percents. Thus if two people with the similar intellect quality work together, apparently, the one with a sense of competition will be more diligent and eventually achieve dominance or attain a goal. When we extend the competition between two people to the competitions among people all over the world, however, we will find cooperation also serve to the success of leaderships as an indispensable factor.   

The ever-increasing complexity of the world requires political leaders should always take account in cooperation and be good at it. As technology and science is evolving more and more quickly, no country can claim its leadership around every field. Moreover, even though one country range the first place at this time, it cannot ensure its dominant position forever. There is a famous proverb saying that no ever enemy but ever interest. On this level, every country should cooperate with others especially with those which are on top in its undeveloped subjects. In this case, cooperation will benefit a lot for the country and prepare it for the more competitive society.

As to our contemporary leaders as well as the tomorrow's leaders, they are facing more and more social programs concerning the developments of the human being, which simply cannot be solved apart from cooperative international efforts. At this time, leaders should understand cooperation outweigh competition. And the most effective way is working together. The International HapMap Project is an organization whose goal is to develop a haplotype map of the human genome, which will describe the common patterns of human genetic variation. The HapMap is expected to be a key resource for researchers to use to find genes affecting health, disease and responses to drugs and environmental factors. The project is collaboration among researchers at academic centers, non-profit biomedical research groups and private companies in Canada, China, the United States and other countries. No single country can achieve this goal except cooperating with others.

In the field of sports, people focus more and more on cooperation which equals the spirit of team program sometimes.  I still remembered my physical teacher in high school told me that what we really need is a hero team not a team full of heroes.  For instance, in Basketball Games, a wise leader can lead the team to win but he does not gain the most scores. As a leader, Michael Jordan owned not only skills but also a sense of cooperation which made sure his teammates interconnected as a perfect net as well as the final success. Internal cooperation serves a lot to strive against the opponent more effective.

As a conclusion, competition and cooperation always coexist with compatible interaction. Competition is the original motivation of a person to be outstanding whereas cooperation accelerates the process meanwhile solidifies the success. Therefore, for a long-term goal, the best way should be instilling the young people both sense of competition and cooperation.
