Issue154：Both parents and communities must be involved in the local schools. Education is too important to leave solely to a group of professional educators.

In a society which places more and more emphasis on the education, from nation to communities, from professional educators to parents are all seeking for the most effective solution to prosper our education, to prepare our children to be productive and responsible in the future. The speaker also concerns about this issue and he claims that both parents and communities must be involved in the education as well as educators. At this level, I quite agree with the author. Education should be a great project distributed to all the member of the society especially educators, parents, and communities.

First of all, professional educators will be more or less unable to fulfill such a grand education project solely although they are expected to do this. The advancement of modern society is closely related to the success of the public education over these centuries. From this stand, many people spontaneously attribute this achievement to the professional educators but underestimate other significant roles such as parents and communities. Admittedly, professional educators have specialized knowledge, abundant experience, and sound methods, which can prepare children for an effective study. However, educators cannot provide enough time for each child to teach them everything, while at this time parents and communities should carry this obligation undoubtedly.

Parents are the first teacher and may be the most influential person during each person's life. When we were still babies, parents taught us how to creep, how to stand up, how to walk and then how to run. Then as we grew up a little more, parents told us what we should eat, what we should wear, and the most important thing what we should do and shouldn't do. During the lifetime, we are permeated by our parents' ideology and moral standard. Moreover, it is also parents who know exactly their children's advantages and disadvantages which may not be less obvious to those teachers in the school. On one hand, most parents are more motivated than any other person to take whatever measures to ensure their children receive the best possible education. On the other hand, children whose parents pay more attention on their study to are inclined to perform better in the school including both academics and daily behaviors. As more and more people have realized that parents should be involved into their children's education, a volunteer child advocacy association, namely National Parent Teacher Association (PTA), was founded in Washington D.C of USA in 1897, which aims to provides the best tools for parents to help their children be successful students. Now this organization have millions memberships all over the states.

Referring to the function of communities in education, we will find that the importance of communities is not less than those of parents and educators. In career-oriented education, communities can offer many suitable positions to those students who were trained to find lucrative jobs to practice and to get familiar with the operational rules of the society, which they are doomed to step into soon or later.  Furthermore, a united and sound community can lead its children to behavior decently and treat others with love and sympathy.  For instance, it is beneficial for both children and communities to organize children to look in elders in the beadhouse weekly or monthly, which will instill children how to be philanthropic to the world. Additionally, communities offer financial supports to local schools in order to equip the classroom, library, laboratory, as well as other facilities.

To sum up, education should be the obligation carried by the whole society, which is significantly relevant to the prosperity of the human society.  Parents, communities and professional educator play their essential and unique role in this great project. The last issue is how to cooperate with each other to forward the education as well as the society.
