We are now living in a complex world. I fundamentally agree with the speaker that while many people make things bigger and complex, to make things simpler requires real efforts and courage. After all, simplicity implies that it is clear for the public to understand.

To begin with, in the era of rapid changes of technology, we find that things around us are more complex and confuse. To understand this position, one needs to look no further than the house. Take the household facilities in China for example. Now many facilities are made by the foreign company and their descriptions of equipments, such as refrigerators, televisions, and even water heaters, are written in English, Japanese, or German, which could not been understand by customers that never exposed to foreign languages. Actually, in China many housewives and older people who do the housework are illiterates. Thus, the sales volume of such facilities will undoubtedly decrease since few could easily use them. For those who already pursued such equipments, some unnecessary troubles would emerge.  

Furthermore, what people highly valued are simple and clear things. One of the most distinguished writers Hemingway had the habits of standing when writing, the result of which is that his article was very simple and clear. His character has been highly valued by people all over the world and helped him gain the Nobel Price on literature. Another example is Einstein's energy identical equation which is listed among the most important discoveries of 20th century and which is very simple. However, it is very beautiful and harmony and can clearly and accurately explain many phenomena in the world. Moreover, from the adornment of many people's house one can find that the style of simplicity is most popular, which is both beautiful and economic.

Additionally, it requires great efforts and courage to make things simple. Take the mobile phone industry for example. Nowadays many companies design their products with many functions which is of little use for the masses—the largest customer group. This seems to be a trend which covers many companies. However, this kind of mobile phones cannot satisfy the customers since they are not easily to use and the price is relatively high—due to the extra technology. At the same time, some foreign companies use Chinese in their production descriptions and make their products easily and convenient to use, which had allured customers to buy them. And the company made an increasing profit as a result. We must admit that it is good for both the company and the customers.

In sum, in the world which is more complex, great efforts should be used to make things simpler and convenient, which will benefit the whole world. I agree with the speaker wholeheartedly.
