research activities really interestes me a lot. I am more than
happy to accept this offer. In fact, I declined an offer from another
university when I get this email message from you. However, before
I formally accept this offer of financial aid, I wish you could
extend the deadline for me for 2 weeks. I feel quite sorry and
nervous to pose you such a problem, but I sincerely wish you could
understand my feeling, because a professor of University of Michigan
told me that he would give me a final decision at that time, although
he can't let me know how much my chance would be at this time.
Again, I should state that I do have strong interest in your graduate
program and I treat it a precious chance to join your research group.
I told you about all my situation because I don't want to bring any

However, I'm really sorry to tell you that I decided not to attend your
school. I have been hesitating among the 9 schools I received for a long
time, and it's really hard to reach such a decision. My teachers and my
family were involved in the decision.  I'm sorry I can't inform you
earlier. I hope you can find another better student.

I enjoy our contacts and like your research very much. Also the
financial support from your school is fully adequate. You're clearly an
outstanding advisor with bright future. It's really a pity I can't join
you this fall. May sometime in the future, we can meet in a meeting in

was informed by another top University that I am awarded a RA(the stipend
is $17,460 per year and tuition waived). Because your
offer will give me a TA with waived tuition fee($1,425 per month for 9
months only if I get a mark more than 230 in TSE, otherwise, I can only
get $1,000 per month).

Some friends told me that it is almost impossible for a new Chinese
student to pass this test at the first year. It means I can only get
$9,000 first year. I think it may not cover my expense in OSU. So after
careful considerasion, I am very sorry to tell you that I am not able to
accept your offer, though I always regard your supervision as my first
choice and the key of my future achievement.

With great regret I am afraid I will be unable to go to clemson this
fall. To tell the truth, I have another offer from Dept. of Chem. Eng of MSU
which has admitted me into their Ph.D program. This idea never comes to my
mind that I am admitted as a Master student, although I am very clear that
you will consider me as a Ph.d student and it is only based on the policy of
graduate school of clemson. But I am really worried that I will meet problems
when applying for the visa because I have heard many many examples in which
people fail to get their visa simply because they will pursue MS after they
have got MS in china. During these several days, I discussed this problem
with my parents, some teachers as well as some friends who ever experienced
this process. Most of them suggested that I choose MSU instead because it
would have not been a hinderance when applying for visa. I know it will cause
you inconvience because I change my mind, but I wish you could undstand my
delimma  and forgive my behavior.
I really enjoy our contacts and like your research work very much. I even
declined the offer from uml three weeks ago since I think I definitely will
go to clemson at that time before I received the admission letter. Your are
clearly an outstanding advisor and your research work is very promising. It
is really a pity that I can not join you this fall. It is not easy for me to
write this email. It is you who give me so much help and suggestion on my
application and give me confidence in studying and conducting research in
USA. And I really very grateful to your help and consideration on my
application. If I have chance to meet you in USA, I will always regard you as
my mentor. I wish we could keep in touch in order that I could consult you
with academic problems after I go to USA.
Although it has been beyond Apr.15, I know the earlier I tell you my new
decision, the less trouble I cause to you. If necessary, I will forward you a
written letter to you asking for release of TA offer and also say sorry to
all the people who expeceted me. If you temporilly don't have approprite
candidates for this TA offer, you may consider Mr. ***, who told me that he
also applied for clemson but for dept. of chem. eng. If you are interested in
his academic background and research experience, I may let him contact you
directly.
I sincerely applogize for any inconvenience that I bring you and deeply
regret that I am unable to join you this time. I believe that you could find
