1.        Study的質疑:從醫學角度考慮,肥胖的人本身比正常人更容易打鼾。(因此作者說打鼾的人容易長胖有本末倒置的嫌疑。我在網上找了篇文章,如下)【这里应该提到study 的样本选择问题吧。样本是否具有普遍性。如果说样本恰好只局限在胖人身上,那才属于本末倒置。】2.        因爲打鼾而引起白天疲憊從而缺乏鍛煉的質疑:
a)        每個人生活方式不同,不能一概而論的認爲疲憊便不會去鍛煉
b)        生活中還有很多別的方式比睡眠不足更容易引起疲憊(這裡不知道是不是拍跑題了。)>。< ~~~
3.        打鼾要少吃多鍛煉的質疑:
a)        個人身體差異,肥胖有多種導因
b)        也要考虑有人打鼾卻並不肥胖


In this argument, the author claims that people who snore are more likely to gain weight than those people who do not snore, and therefore he suggests anyone who snore should eat less and exercise more than the average person. To support his contention, the author provides a recent study, however, I found this argument suffers from a series of logical problems and is wholly unpersuasive.

To begin with, the study cites from the author, which lacks credibility to make people convince. From a medical perspective, snoring is not the major cause for obesity, besides, people who getting fat problems are more likely to snore while they 【have more】sleep than the average level. Common sense informs us that the throat structure of obese person is normally narrow than others, and therefore caused the sleep apnea highly while he or she breathing when they sleeping【这个观点很独特】. In this sense, the author's contention which basically based on the study that people who snore are more likely getting fat is fallacious, and in fact, the author inverts the cause and effect between obesity and snoring.

In the second place, the author absents evidence to show the relationship between the tiredness caused by sleep apnea during the daytime and the obesity caused by lacking exercise. On one hand, everyone got different life-styles, to simply assert that people who tried and then not going to do the exercise cannot be justifiably conclude. On the other hand, to what extent, the snoring affects the tiredness for obesity that does not rule out by the author. Perhaps, the tiredness caused by snoring only take a small responsibility for people who lacking exercise, and all the other reasons, such like the stress from working and study are highly possible to cause the tiredness much【more】 than sleep apnea over night time. In short, this reference is also fallacious, at least without evidence to support it.

Last but not least, the author's conclusion for people who snore should try to eat less and exercise more also suffers from fallacies. As we all know, there are many causes for people getting fat. Someone was born in obesity and someone obese by the unhealthy eating habits. Different types【reasons for】 of fat should be distinguished case by case, to simply content【contend】 that all the obesities should eat less and exercise more cannot take seriously as it stands. Moreover, some people who snore but 【多了but,或者who删掉】do not have fat problems, and it is obvious no need for those people【them】 to eat less and do the exercise as well. Fails【Failing】 to consider these or other possibilities, the author's argument is essentially moot【这个词还是第一次见到。学习一下。】 in the case here.

To sum up, the author's conclusion about people who snore should eat less and exercise more than average person is poorly supported. To strengthen it, the author needs to provide evidence about snoring that do take responsibility for the obesity. Further, to better assess, we also need to know the relationship between the sleep apnea and the tiredness for what extent can cause the obesity.

总结:芹菜的文章不错!尤其是第一个观点很独特,给人耳目一新的感觉。语法错误很少,如果是限时写的,考试没什么问题了。

TOPIC: ARGUMENT145 - A new study collected data that shows that people who snore are more likely to gain weight than are people who do not snore. It is well known that many people who snore also stop breathing frequently during the night for a few seconds, a condition called sleep apnea. The interruption of breathing wakes the person-often so briefly that the waking goes unnoticed-and can leave the person too tired during the day to exercise. Anyone who snores, therefore, should try to eat less than the average person and to exercise more.
1, sleep apnea 具有普遍性吗?many people 到底是多少?
2,是不是回导致人们的疲惫感?即使有,会不会其他原因造成的
3, 建议所有人少吃多栋是不队的。 一,只有治疗才可以,更何况人们可能已经少吃多栋了    二,有些人不胖,还有一些人体质不适合多锻炼呢。

In this article the author advise people who snores to eat less and to exercise more than average person in order to lose weight, based on the deduction that the snore apnea would leave people too tired to exercise, then they gain more weight than people who do not snore, however, close scrutiny reveals that the author makes several mistakes.

First of all, the author says that many people have sleep apnea but does not inform us the actual rate of those people in all people who snore. If the so-called "many people" are 1000 people, while there are 1 million people who snore, then so small part of all the people can not prove that the sleep apnea is the key reason for being obesity, then the following analysis does not make any sense. Unless the author give more relevant statistics, we can not believe that the sleep apnea is a common phenomenon.

Secondly, the author thinks blindly the interruption of breathing would wake people and leave them very tired. On the one hand, the author does not provide any evidences to prove that the feeling of tired is related with sleep apnea. Although the sleep apnea can interrupt the breath briefly, not all of people would feel tired the next day because the extent of sleep apnea and people’s physical condition are all different. On the other hand, even most of people who have sleep apnea feel tired, it may be not caused by snore. As we all know, there are many reasons that could explain the feeling of tired, for example, the person who get obesity often have heart diseases, which can make people hard to relax enough and get a feeling of tired. It is quite possible that those people feel tired due to their diseases rather than the sleep apnea

Last but not the least, the author hastily recommends all people who snore to eat less and exercise more, and makes a mistake of oversimplification. In the first place, if the reason of gaining weight is the sleep apnea, then the most efficient way is to cure snore rather than exercise, let alone it is quite possible that these people have already try their best to exercise in order to lose weight. In the second place, it is not the wise to require all of people who snore to eat less and exercise more. As the study has mentioned, not all of people who snore get obesity that average people. The author does not consider the possibility that some people keep in normal weight although they snore at night. Moreover, to exercise more and eat less is harmful to some extent, and it may be  not suitable for some people with poor physical condition.

In sum, the statement is not cogent as it stands. To strengthen it, the author should offer more evidences to prove that the sleep apnea is existing in most of people who snore, and gaining weight is caused by those people’s eating much but little exercise. Moreover, it is better for the author to consider other possible situations.
