The speaker's statement is so obscure and indefinite that I can not agree with it at all. Whether the goal is worthy and the means is justifiable depends heavily on the applicability and legality and meaning of the goal and the means.

The establishment of a goal and the attitude to the goal is so different and even opposite due to the individual interest, value and stands. From a nation to a person, their goal should be under the legal and moral limitation and feasible and meaningful so that the adjective "worthy" is reasonable and justifiable. Some countries who are only focus on the wealth maximization will think develop economy is the only worthy goal and they will act without consideration for other countries’ benefit. From an international perspective, the goal is not worthy and the country is too selfish to be accepted by others. If a poor person without earning skills sets a goal that he/she want to earn one million dollar one day, the goal is not only unworthy, but also foolish and unpractical. Hence, before taking actions for a goal, the goal itself should be evaluated seriously from comprehensive viewpoints.

When the goal is justifiable and reasonable, making good effort to realize it is a virtue for us to advocate in a large scale. Without government leaders’ effort for making public interest come true, the quality of people's life will not be improved. Without people's effort for develop economy, politics and culture, the engine of social rise will not be powered. Since China establishes the goal for comprehensive development, the whole Chinese people are associated together, helping each other and making a contribution for the lofty goal. Their spirit is moving and their persistence deserves studying. Edison kept his determination and never gave up, after countless defeats and attempts, he finally invented electric bulb and benefited people all over the world. These special stories tell us that only when you devote yourself to your goal and translate the tremendous decision into actions can you bring about success and progress step by step.

However, any undue means play a salient role not only in undermining the goal realization but also in influencing other and even society badly. Hitler was running after his individual goal at the expense of other people's interests even lives. While his competence is improved and his power is amplified, people not only in his country but also in other nations were suffering unbelievable affliction. While Nixon run after for his political goal and private advantage, he told a lie to the whole nation and ignored the authority of law and confidence from public, ultimately, he reaped what he has sown and resigned taking the blame. Academic corruptions are the same extreme for academic pursuit. Due to the dreaming of instant fame and quick success, these experts are inclined to faking papers or research products rather than hard working for real achievement. Chinese "HISYS" chip faking at last drove the producer bankrupt in the reputation and having no opportunity for academic researching. Meanwhile, it made a bad effect on the China independent innovation goal and atmosphere.

A goal is the catalyzer for us to positively pursue, persevere and make progress. However, it and its means should be justifiable so that we will not deviate from the correct path. Think carefully about these spheres mentioned above before you act.
