11 "All nations should help support the development of a global university designed to engage students in the process of solving the world's most persistent social problems."

Exercise:
With the rapid technological development and social change leading to causing increasing social problems, more and more people become aware of the seriousness of them and get ready to band together to solve them. In my view, all nations should help each other to support the development of a global university educating students to work together in the process of solving the world's most persistent social problems.

In the first place, most of social problems are the common enemies of mankind. First of all, people all over the earth face the common problem of environmental pollution. For example, the air or water in a place or nation was polluted unfortunately. The poisoned air can go everywhere with the wind and might cause people in other places or nations bad disease while the waste water can flow into the sea through the river and might kill a number of fishes and plants living in sea. Because people live in the same and only earth sharing with each other, people should work together to fight the common enemy. What is more, each person and country are one of parts of the global economy. Take the 9.11 terrorist attack in the New York as an example. It does not only have immediate cost in terms of physical damage to infrastructure in US and also have a huge cost coming from the knock-on effect which is quite considerable in tourism and public transport to the world economy. Take the price of petroleum as another example. Since the government of Iran which is the second most important country to export oil raised the price of petroleum, the oil prices in every nation are on the advance.  

In the second place, a number of the world's most persistent social problems can not be solved by one or two countries. Although human beings become stronger and wiser, the power of us does little to the strong society and even the serious and persistent social problems. Even though we might cure more and more illness, nobody can prevent all the disease and live for ever; even if an individual have large sums of money, he or she can not buy any things and solve all problems. Take the war between human beings for example. If human beings were unaware of the seriousness of this social problems, then more and more countries spends an amount of money studying high-tech weapons such as nuclear weapons and biological weapons. When there are collisions between interest of countries, people would no doubt pick up arms and fight against their enemies. At last, numerous human beings are killed by each other and by the advanced weapons made by their own hands. In a word, lots of social problems are so serious and strong that people should
band together to solve them.

Admittedly, there are a number of difficulties for human beings to work together for the same goal. Even though mankind begins to strive for the same aim, there are a great deal measures for us to take in the process of solving the world's most persistent social problems. However, to build a global university is one of the best methods to solve the world problems. For one thing, students could study and live together every day so that it is helpful to understand each other. The more things students understand about their classmates from other countries, the more tolerance they afford to their classmates and the stronger they work together for one goal to solve the global problems. For another, to build a global university is the most efficient measure to let people from different countries work together. The global university designing to engage students to solve the most persistent social problems can concentrate all people's efforts and gather up our strength on finding ways to solve them.

To sum up, given the reasons mentioned above, we may safely come to the conclusion that all nations should support the development of a global university designing to educate students to band together in the process of solving the world's most persistent social problems.
