History, as records about the past of human beings, is an indispensable part in human society from the very beginning. I concede that history relevant to present is worth (of) study, while the benefit of (the) studying history, as far as I am concerned, dose not depends on whether or not it is relevant to our daily lives.
It is the history that helps us to identify ourselves. In other words, through the study of history, we get a better understanding of who we are. Even we have changed a lot from our predecessors during (to) the development of the society, but the relationship which is passed down by the blood can never be changed. History tells us that no individual is isolated and every one has the community which he or she belongs to. A case in point is that a long ago migrant from Africa continent to American continent might be (of)no business of our daily lives, but it provides the blanks in America the idea that the color of their skin is not anything(nothing) of shame but just a mark their predecessors left for them as identification. They have nothing different from the whiter around them but the different predecessors.(这个例子举得不是很恰当,没把问题阐述清楚,因为知道自己和白人的区别仅在于不同的祖先并不能体现出两者间的平等) Similarly, retrospect of the family tree as a part of family history is the most effective way for the children to realize where they came and who they are. That is the ability of identification of the history.
What's more, study the history of one particular region or a nation is a good way to develop a respect and loyalty to the community. For example, people from China are proud for(of) themselves as citizens of this nation, because their nation is among the most ancient four countries in the world and the legends about their predecessors make them believe that they still possess the brave and intelligence attributes passed down by their predecessor. And this pride and satisfaction encourage them to overcome the difficulties and attract(motivate) them to devote themselves to the construction of their own country. That's the reason why almost every nation consider the history of their own county as an important part of formal education, though even this part of history has already have no or little relevant to present for the time changes. As a conclusion, history is also a means for the government to cultivate good citizens.
As a matter of fact, the human society is a process, which can not be understood well if only one part of it is chosen to study, especially for those sociologists and anthropologists. For instance, the ancient pot made by the primitive is of no value from the respect of technology, for the reason that nowadays much more delicate ones can be made without difficulties. However, this pot is still precious or even priceless, since it represents a period of the history. The history is not only valuable for it tells us the origin of the pot-making industry but also it serves as a way to reappear people’s working and living situations thousands of years ago. Only through the study of history can the complete process of human beings as well as human society be shown. There is another example illustrate this opinion well. Tangshan, a city in China, seems to have no distinctions compared with other ones in this nation. However, if the history that it has experienced a 7.6 degrees earthquake only twenty years ago is known to the tourist, the same prosperity of the city might have completely different means to the tourists.
To sum up, the value of the history lies in the identification of individuals, loyalty to the communities as well as a better understanding of the society, even though it might have no or little relevant to our daily lives.
