"Instant foods, instant communication, faster transportation-all of these recent developments are designed to save time. Ironically, though, instead of making more leisure time available, these developments have contributed to a pace of human affairs that is more rushed and more frantic than ever before."

==================================================================1. Instant foods, communication, fast transportation really save our time to some extent.
2. Saving time does not mean to provide more leisure time and the designs of recent developments are used to boost our work efficiency.

==================================================================

All of recent development, such as instant food, instantaneous communication and faster transportation, are designed to save time. The author claims that instead of making more leisure time, these developments have contributed to make individuals feel more rushed and more frantic. However, in my opinion, the main goal of latest developments, to some extent, is not saving our time for leisure time, but to boost our work efficiency and then focus on more significant affairs. However the abuse of technology may cause such kind of problems.

Admittedly, recent advancements in our daily life can help us spend little time on them eating, communication and transportation than we used to. Before the instant foods are spread widely, individuals should spend half or one hour to prepare the breakfast before their works; before the invention of mobiles and e-mails, persons should write letters or use telegraph, which either costs more much time to arrive on other's hand, nor limits in a certain place, to negotiate some crucial affairs; before underground subway is applied in our daily transportation, people crushed like sandwich in rush hours since the limit number of buses can't satisfy the demand of office workers.Therefore, at the moment more and more recent developments are invented and applied, people have more convenient alternatives to choose and save more time than before.

However, saving time does not mean to provide more leisure time and the primary purpose of such advancements, to some extent, is to boost our work efficiency and focus on more vital affairs! To support my standpoint, we need look no further than the prevailing application of mobile. Businessman could seldom spend time on waiting reply message sending to his hand through post office; instead he can focus on more important affairs. Do the businessmen have more leisure time than those before? Absolutely not! Their time for lunch, for sleeping or for accompanying with their families is probably disturbed by mobiles for urgent events of their business. None of them could expect to use contemporary technology to increase their holidays. From this instance, we can clearly notice that the function of some recent technology is based on providing more efficient way for work, instead of sparing our free time.

Moreover, abuse and rely on new technology excessively are perhaps the chief reasons why we feel more rushed and more frantic than ever before. We used to plan our time to go shopping, watching movie or staying at home with our family members when off duty. However, with the popularization of Internet and E-mail, we can keep in touch with the immediate information about our work even though it is time for rest. Then individuals are forced to use free time to tackle about certain affair, which may need extra efforts and energy. The boundary between working time and resting time becomes vague and individuals may feel they are always at work and couldn't have enough private time for relax. The feeling of rushed and frantic arises from such kind of situations, which can’t only be attributed to latest advancements of technology. The desires for more material possessions never stop with efficiency boosting and individuals may use every technology approach to satisfy their needs. Hence, it is our human beings that abuse and overuse them to make our life choas.

To sum up, recent developments, to some extent, really save our time and people could have more rights to plan them, whether for relax or for self-improvement. However, to satisfy their desires for material possessions, individuals are inclined to depend on these advancements to work more in private time, which may probably cause such feelings as rushed and frantic. Therefore, how to utilize modern technology in a proper way is an immediate and paramount problems to be solved.
