TOPIC: ISSUE4 - "No field of study can advance significantly unless outsiders bring their knowledge and experience to that field of study."

According to this statement, the speaker claims that significant advancement in any fields of study requires various knowledge and experience from other fields. I fundamentally agree with the speaker that expertise from various fields can develop some fields of study dramatically. Yet, in some cases, introduction of knowledge and experience from other fields may pose certain risks to that field.

One compelling argument in favor of this statement has to do with the development of architecture science, which advances significantly with the expertise of computer scientists and material scientists. With the development of computer science, a significant advancement takes place in the architecture science. The computer scientists develop a lot of professional software which make the study of architecture science embracing the study of building style and structure pattern more precise and reliable. And the expertise of computer science urges the architecture science from manual design and analysis to the new era of computer-aided and internet-based study. Material scientists are also needed to invent the latest construction materials, such as macromolecule velamen, carbon fibers, and light-concrete. These new kinds of construction materials make the structural force changed greatly and eventually will lead to new architectural styles and structural patterns. Thus, the whole discipline advances significantly.

Another compelling argument for how expertise in diverse fields is needed to develop studies involves the area of chemistry. In the history of discovering elements, many significant discoveries which exerted an important influence on the realm of chemistry, owed to using of physical techniques and theories: the discovery of the elements Rb. and Cs. was attributed to the technique advancement in the filed of optics; alkali metals were discovered because batteries were invented and used in chemistry experiments; the radioactive elements were detected under the direction of radioactivity theory. On the contrary, before these new physical techniques and theories were used, these new elements could never be detected by the traditional avenues in chemistry.

Admittedly, in some circumstance, the introduction of diverse knowledge and experiences to one field may turn out to be very dangerous to society. Consider the knowledge of clone uses in the biomedical realm. Though cloning organs and limbs can save numerous lives of patients and clone may be quite promising in gene saving, yet the clone of human being may cause both ethical and moral problems which may be a tremendous threat to human species and may overturn the current moral and ethical system. Thus, to some extent bringing in knowledge from other fields need careful consideration and full deliberation.

On balance, I agree with the speaker's broad assertion that significant advancement in one field requires expertise from various fields. Yet for certain inappropriate bringing of knowledge and experiences, government should never hesitate to inhibit.

实例展开很充分,不多赞了
不过最好在举实例前先分析一下。实例最好用来进一步巩固有效的分析,而不是单纯的作论据(那样有特例的嫌疑)。这样分析比较有层次,更富说服力 ^_^
