well, think that I should get back to the topic...Personally, I really loath my telephone interview experience with a Princeton alumna. The fact that I did not come from a big city like Beijing or Shanghai or whatever rendered me no access to a real "face to face" interview.Firstly, the alumnus assigned to interview me was a Singaporean; however, since I craved to go to Princeton soooo much at that time and was afraid that the absence of a real "face to face" interview would put me at an absolute disadvantage ,I wrote to him that I would like to have the "real" interview whatsoever(donno care about the cost of the trip or time ).At that time I was so determined that I would like to have the interview that I even would like to travel to Singapore for it! That man was very considerate and nice and he told me that he understood my feeling and forwarded my earnest request to another interviewer in Beijing and told me that I could contact her then if I desired the "face to face" interview...So I contacted her...

She was a Chinese(donno whether Taiwan or HongKong or ...) and she tried her best to persuade me not to go to Beijing for it ...I didn't know why...anyway I relinquished my request at last and we finalized on an appointment for the telephone interview...# f7 G: \ d( K9 O' O& M
It was 3:00 pm on an afternoon(donno why I still remember it so clearly) and I waited at the phone for one hour for fear of not hearing the ring...it never rang.Such an experience(被人放鸽子...)really made me feel so disappointed but anyway it was she that would interview me ,I should not complain ,shouldn't I?..., V# r2 ?' s4 M
She sent me an email to apologize and I accepted it and we made another appointment...This time I waited for about one hour as well and again nothing happened...

Eventually, she rang me up at our third scheduled interview...And again, this time was NOT very pleasant .Actually, I felt a bit insulting because we spent about more than five minutes talking about where I was from and what she actually meant was that how dare I apply to Princeton ...where the hell I was from... Yeah, basically what she said was that I should not dream about Princeton or whatever because I was not from a big city. And she continued in a more arrogant and contemptuous voice as if she were the most talented woman in the world :vomit: ,and I, perhaps, the worst...hehe...She even asked me whether I heard of SAT or not ...and when I told her about my scores she was kinda shocked ...she expected to see how poorly I performed but only to find disappointment for herself...So even though she was no longer insulting me in the remaining part of the interview, I would not say it was of any value for me 'cause all I had prepared to present to her about my academic capabilities ,prizes, extracurriculars or just free chating were rendered useless since I was in such a bad mood made by her...

Such is my experience with the Princeton alumni telephone interview.Though I have to say it did leave an overwhelmingly hurting mark in my heart and I cried for days and felt so degraded,I still believe that it was just an exception and as a general rule I think Princeton alumni are nice and such an experience in no way affects the status of Princeton in my heart( Though Duke is the ONE for me and should be given the priority )...

You guys are lucky than me and I hope you can meet very nice interviewers and get into your dream schools ...:victory: And I think "face to face" interviews are better becuase you will communicate with the interviewer more effectively and he or she can see you and feel your potential and aspiration... really give you an advantage over telephone interviems...Best wishes for all of you still waiting# i* g* n. m! |1 z) ^: |
9 P% F2 l2 n/ f4 x- XBut please bear in mind that please do not feel so depressed or get desparate about interview...It is just a process...nothing that important and should not be over-emphasized...BTW, personally, I think foreign interviewers are nicer ,more supportive and objective than Chinese interviewers...I still remember the Dartmouth + Harvard (in its law school)old gentle man I met at the airport ,who volunteered to write me a recommendation...almost got in Dartmouth last year...anyway,duke is the one...0 b. m# v; v+ E% ?- b; R
