I strongly agree with the statement that the knowledge and experience outside the subject is necessary for researchers to make significant advance. Since the number of subjects and the amounts of knowledge are growing rapidly, the knowledge of a certain researcher can master is getting much more limited. This kind of combination of knowledge and cooperation of researcher of different areas become more and more common in both science and social science area.
In the first place, in academic areas of literature and philosophy, many researches and advance achieved by the joint effort of experts in different disciplines. Literature works have much relationship with the culture of a nation, which formed and developed during its history. Moreover, to understand and appreciate a certain work, researchers are required to analyze the social, political and economical environments of the author's time, therefore some knowledge of sociology and economics are indispensable. It is almost the case in philosophy study, too. To understand the source and development of certain ancient philosophical theories, studiers should also look for historical and political environmental factors. Researchers probably make incomplete results, if they refuse the outside knowledge and experience, because these subjects share a same culture background affect and tangle with each others during its long history.
In the second place, not only do academic study of literature and philosophy require those outsiders' help. Scientific research cannot make great improvements without such communication. There is a typical example of this combinational work in space technical research. The achievement of space techniques reveals almost all fields of industries. It is obvious that physics provide the fundamental support of theories, while many other subjects also take part in this area, for instance that the study of material provides the proper material for environments in extreme hot or cold temperature; that computer science provides the powerful ability of calculation of orbits of the spacecraft. Such huge projects can hardly imagine to be accomplished without outsiders' knowledge and experience.
Besides the obvious fact the many famous achievements are accomplished with the help and inspiration of outsiders' knowledge and experiences, and we believe many future academic accomplishments reckon on such work, it is still worth to note the right way to make this kind of cooperation smooth. In some case, it is easier to learn outside knowledge rather than ask help from outsiders. It happens when the requirements of outside knowledge are not much, while communication with the outsider has certain difficulties. After all, effective communication with outsiders is the only way of cooperation.
In sum, with the increase of total amount of knowledge, it is impossible for one to grasp all the details of a subject. Thus there comes up a new problem that how to communicate and cooperate with the specialties of different subjects efficiently. Then the ability of team working becomes a new essential character to judge whether the scientist can make great advance in his area.
