Originality, which refers to the ability to think creatively and depart from traditional or previous forms, has been highly regarded in most western cultures. There is a saying goes, all good things are the fruits of originality. Our contemporary society emphasizes a lot on how to be original. Insofar I concerned, both thinking something that was never thought before and putting old ideas together in new ways are effective methods to get (originaliy) [originality].
Thinking something that was never thought before can lead to original ideas. Refer to the science history, abundant inventions and ideas are made independently without any references (with) [to] earlier developments. For example, through the discreet observation, Galileo pointed out that the earth travels around the sun, which was absolute[ly] a new concept almost no one (though) [had thought] before. With the respect of education, Confucius, considered as one of the most important thinkers of ancient china, first concluded that review is an effective way to enhance comprehension. Original achievements always due to thinking what others would never think before. To strength this point, Mendel was the first one who created the laws of heredity which were never thought before; Faraday was the first one who found the relationship between electricity and magnetism which were never realized before. Because of those people who think creatively, the knowledge of our society has piled up. [不错~]
Putting old ideas together in new ways is also a kind of way to pursue originality. With the mass accumulation of knowledge, many scientists could not assert that their original accomplishments do nothing with the contributions made by predecessors. For instance, Isaac Newton, who is well-known in the world by his laws of universal gravitation and motion, once said modestly, "if I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants". True[ly], many new inventions and ideas are based on previous developments or breakthroughs. After the steam engine put[ting] the idea into practice, developments such as the internal-combustion engine, which powers the world's millions of automobiles, came out on the basis of a same principle of steam engine. In the realm of philosophy, Kierkegaard, a Danish philosophy, brought out the concept of existentialism derived from Hegel's metaphysical idealism. In short, originality can be produced through putting old ideas together in new ways.
In summary, from what discussed above, a conclusion could be safely drew that not only thinking something that was never though before and also putting old ideas together in new ways can bring out original ideas. As to originality, there is no absolute definition on its sources, no matter thinking something new or gathering old ideas in new ways, otherwise, we are too restrained to originality.
内容和结构没什么可说的了,例子也很充分,句子很舒服,呵呵~~~ |
