The speaker asserts that it only makes good sense to study history when it is relevant to our daily lives. I agree insofar as the study of history is indispensable for
our daily life indeed. However, it also plays an important role in other places such as world peace and environment protection.

Admittedly, learning history benefits us greatly in our daily routines . It could not only give us advice which directs our actions, but also set many good examples we could learn a lot from. For example, if you want to be a scientist, you could turn to Newton and Einstein for help, who will tell you how to think and act like a scientist. When you are faced with difficulties, Beethoven and Columbus will lend you much courage to overcome them. In order to tell children what is honesty, it could not be better for parents to cite the story of Abraham Lincoln, who went a long way just for returning the over-received six cents. Thus, it is true that the study of history will  better our daily lives indeed.

However, when admitting the contribution made by history to the daily lives, we can't turn a blind eye to other great places in which history also plays an important role. On the one hand, mistake of the past can teach our society how to avoid repeating those foolish actions. An apt illustration involves the two world wars in the past century, which brought great loss to human's heart and wealth. More and more people begin to study the origin of the world wars and the lessons of them nowadays. It makes good sense to do so though this is not relevant to our daily lives at the first glance. Perhaps it's the study of them that let us live in peace nowadays.

On the other hand, study of history will bring us a better future. For instance, the nuclear accident at Chernobyl has been studied to ensure that it will not happen again. The extinction history of  rare animals will give us an alarm bell, which urge us to treat our friends well. All of these examples of studying history provide greater value beyond the daily lives of people. //感觉这两段没有论述好，需要再加强一下。

In sum, while we pay much attention to the study of history relevant to our daily lives, we should not ignore other great values which it brings to us.
