TOPIC: ARGUMENT2 - The following appeared in a letter sent by a committee of homeowners from the Deerhaven Acres to all homeowners in Deerhaven Acres. "Seven years ago, homeowners in nearby Brookville community adopted a set of restrictions on how the community's yards should be landscaped and what colors the exteriors of homes should be painted. Since then, average property values have tripled in Brookville. In order to raise property values in Deerhaven Acres, we should adopt our own set of restrictions on landscaping and housepainting."
1.       未必是装修的限定导致房价上升
2.       这种限定在DA未必适用,DA房价未能上升的原因是其他可能性。
3.       7年后人们的观点可能发生改变

The author comes to the conclusion that in an attempt to raise property values in Deerhaven Acres, the homeowners there should adopt their own set of restrictions on landscaping and housepainting based on several unsubstantiated assumptions, which render the conclusion unsound as it stands.

To begin with, the author draws the conclusion based on the unsubstantiated assumption that it was because homeowners in Brookville community (BC) adopted a set of restrictions concerning how the community's yards should be landscaped and what exteriors of homes should be painted that average property values have tripled, which is not necessarily the case. Perhaps BC has developed into a downtown over the past seven years, which contributed to the increase of average property values. Also, it is fairly possible that with the increase of citizens' incomes in BC, the average property values have soared in the mean time.

Secondly, while it may be true that average property values in BC have tripled due to a set of relevant restrictions, this is not necessarily true of Deerhaven Acres (DA). The author fails to take into account the possibility that the because the environment in DA are so dissatisfactory that people are less willing to purchase or rent them, which naturally lead the average property values in DA to decrease. As a consequence, even the homeowners in DA adopt their own set of restrictions on landscaping and housepainting, it will not be beneficial to meliorate environment and therefore the average property values in DA are unlikely to increase.

Last but not least, the fact that average property values in BC have tripled over the past seven years does not imply that they will soar in the future. It is entirely possible that those people who are going to purchase or rent the houses feel bored with the landscaping and housepainting, and that they are more willing to decorate and paint the houses on their own without conforming to a set of restrictions. Failing to rule out such possibility, the author cannot convince me that adopting a set of restrictions regarding landscaping and housepainting will be a wise choice for BC as well as DA in the future.

In sum, the author lends little strong support to the conclusion based on several false assumptions, which render it unsound as it stands. To better bolster the conclusion, it would be of use to prove that average property values in BC have tripled because homeowners there adopted a set of restrictions and provide more detailed information concerning how those who want to purchase or rent houses think of the landscaping and housepainting now.

As a consequence, even the homeowners in DA adopt their own set of restrictions on landscaping and housepainting, it will not be beneficial to meliorate environment and therefore the average property values in DA are unlikely to increase.(这一段三句话像是这样的:不是a原因导致下降,而是b原因导致下降,因此改良了a不能够制止下降。其他就没有怎么分析,显得很不充实)

语言还是没有问题,很不错
但是思路方面总觉得分析不透彻,每一段话除了你的观点,很难找到其他支撑观点的描述,比较空。
