Arts is needed to make nation a better place for humans overall.Most times,it is the arts through which hidden ideas and impulses of the society are reveal the various forms of arts like painting,music and literature dipict the invisible aspects of society.However,a small fraction of situations it merely reflect one's personal and idiosyncratic visions of an aesthetic ideal instead of broader influences.

Consider one of the cardinal forms of art,paintings:the source through which artist elaborate reality of the world,that can not be seen through open eyes,which include emotions,feelings,sensations.In the 17th century,Holand was full of realistic painters.In their extraordinary realistic paintings,the kings,ministers and aristocrats were hardly seen.Instead,these paintings mostly dipicted the common lives and work scenes of the men in the street,which indicate the Holand in that era was no longer a society of regality but a society leaded by majority of civilians.The fact was truly like what the paintings expressed.The Holand of 17th centuary was in fact a citizens-co-founded,commerce-benefit-oriented government.In contrast,this kind of paintings are hardly seen in the countries of spain and portugal,which are also the most powerful countries in the world at that time.The truth is,these two countries didn't develop but even held back the possible boom of the industry and commerce.All of the benefits they got from commerce and battles with other countries of the world are used in religion believes and colony expansion.

The music is also a powerful tool for the artists to represent the reality of the world.Take The variety of the American music for example.American music is the most unique and dynamic sounds in the world,most of which are rooted in the history of its people.Jazz has been called the purest expression of American society,which built on individualism and compromise,independence and cooperation.Country music was influenced by the rural lives in the south and west.It reflected the strife and conflict of the impoverished miners and farmers of the depression area.Nowadays' Hip-Hop music not only has taken the place of rock&roll as the musical expression of a generation's rebellion,but also can help young adults express their own feelings of alienation from the mainstream.

The same social funcion also happened when it comes to the field of literature.Satire is the most powerful style of literature for the novelists to dipict the disadvantages of their countries and society.In the 19th centuary,when the Russia are ruled by the czars,plenty of famous novelists and poets,like the novelist Gorky Maxim and the poet Pussy king,create their famous masterpieces to unveil the serfdom and rotten buerocracy of that country.Contemporary literature artists,especially in The United States,also write myriad works to attack the ugly phenomenon the soceity like racism,millionocracy,the lower status of women compared to men,the adolescent crime,the capital execution and so on.Undoubtly,in certain degrees,the improvement of society must be stem from the influence of the satire works.

However,in some aspects,the arts seem not to reflect the hidden ideas and impulses of a society but only one's personal and idiosyncratic visions of one certain artists.For example,many critics consider the works of Picasso,who are the most important painter in the 20th centuary,are only reflect his freak aesthetic ideas of painting.Some simple love music only reflect the personal feelings or experience or desiration of love.Also some works in the field of literature,like the science fictions,only express the wild imagination of the authors.

In sum,though in some times the arts only reflect the personal and idiosyncratic visions of the artists,in most situations,art reveal the otherwise hidden ideas and impulses of a society.Art provides inspiration,lifts up human spirit,and incites our creativity and imagination.All of these attributes of arts spur us on to greater accomplishments and help us to appreciate our own humanity.
