The speaker holds that laws can be divided into two types: just and unjust laws; individuals should disobey and resist unjust laws while obeying just laws. This is a view I cannot agree with.

In the first place, laws are born unfair(ao-kou)and perfect laws are impossible.—TS不是很积极,换个角度说:比如每个人对law的看法都是不同的,很难有一个law可以被所有人都认可. On the one hand, Laws are made by the governor and services for governor. The question whether the governing law fair or unfair is always based on who you are. At any time, any law could be fair to some people and unfair to other people. As the earth(han…property??) laws in Dynasty Qing in China, which ordained that earth belongs to the smallest part of people we called lord, is fair to the lord but unfair to the peasant obviously. Even earth laws in nowadays China is unfair to the city citizens who don’t have any earth at all but fair to the village people who are born to have their own earth. Let me also take marriage laws for example. Can we say it is fair for those homoeroti(e…)?

In a word, laws are made unfair. Taking in consideration of every person, no law is fair, nothing to say about grouping them into fair and unfair. On the other hand, the process laws are executed always involved many unfair affairs. Many factors of the criminals like the familiar, the family, the likes and dislikes, the power etc could affect the executor’s fairness. So in laws’ executing process, there is also fairness to some people and unfairness to other people and we cannot draw a distinct line between fair laws and unfair laws.

In the second place, we must admit that laws exist and are practiced depending on whether they are reasonable or unreasonable, not depending on whether they are fair or unfair. Let me see the law of birth restriction in China, actually this law is unfair to 99.9% of Chinese people,(u are absolutely a cynic~) but since it is reasonable taking into consideration of this country’s furthermore development, it is practiced strictly over several years in China. Actually, any law, which is representative of most part of its people, no matter who is this part of people, is reasonable, and could be put into practice.

Lastly, can we easily obey just laws and disobey unjust laws? History tells us that it is dangerous and unaffordable for us to disobey a law or a government by arms. For individuals, it is also impossible and unpractical to discriminate between fairness and unfairness. Can China’s laws be judged by America? Or can Japan’s laws be judged by China? It is impossible. No one and no organization could give an authoritative assertion. And for the society’s balance and stability, it is also forbidden for any one to disobey laws. Hence, it is wiser and responsible for a democratic country citizen to obey laws and have your sound heard through legal ways.
So, in my views, laws couldn’t be easily divided into just and unjust groups. There is too much to say about a really just law. Country can exist in a peaceful and rapidly developing state only when laws are having its real power over everyone. Anything has its flaws including the most perfect law, people could help to embellish laws through legal ways and let laws to be more just.
