Technologies not only influence but actually determine social customs and ethics.

I basically agree the speaker that technologies not only influence but also decide social customs and ethics. However, the speaker ignores that social customs and ethics take effect on technologies as well. In my opinion, technologies and social customs, ethics interact; either of them may impact the other.

Admitly, technologies may have a decisive effect on customs. With the development of our technologies, our social customs are changing day by day. For example, the discovery of nylon wholly altered women’s apparel. Women no longer dress cumbersome long trousers, cover all the charming outline of women’s legs, they take on the lucid hose made by nylon instead. In another case, the development of communication heavily changed the way people greeting for holidays. People no longer write New Year cards, which may cost several days to post to the receivers; they send an email or make a phone call instead. Convinces by the development of technologies highly change our social customs.

Moreover, technologies extend moral standard to some new fields, as internet. The internet establishes an imaginary world, and in this new society there never are laws or ethics before. One can do business without giving his real name. One can free to talk without leaving any track. Since this, internet offers a hotbed for the crimes and the dupes have no recourse. While finding that some people do something improper in internet, people start to constitute ethics for internet which different from all the existed ethics. One still can use his pseudonym, but once be found to cheating, this ID will be moved forever. By using such measure, the world is maintained to be fair and attracting. Not only in this case, has ethics been changed to be adaptive in the entire new-built field.

On the other hand, social customs and ethics also play a crucial role to the development of technologies. First, social customs promotes technologies. The development of technologies is based on human needs. Social customs, as most of people accepted, offers a large demanding which may attract technologies to solve the problems which are existed.

Besides, ethics may confine the development of technologies. Technologies itself can not be judged as angels or evils, but how to use the technologies should be restricted by customs and morals. As the nuclear technologies, A-bomb only held by USA can destroy all of the earth several times, while the nuclear power plant provides us a clear and inexhaustible method for generating electricity. As the genetic technologies, which is limited in many countries, is considered as Pandora’s Box. Some the scientists now can assert that people may get rid of the disease by development of genetics technologies, but as the Film, Star War described, the genetics technologies may also result in the situation that the clone may master our world. Ethics in these cases, confines the development of technologies with a conservative attitude, even if these things may not happen.  

In sum, not only technologies may take effect on social customs and ethnics, but social customs and ethnics play a crucial role to the technologies. They interact, and can not be separated.

开头不错，只是有种说法是　不要用　Ｉ　agree…..however　因为Ｈｏｗｅｖｅｒ很很强的转折，这样有逻辑问题。　但是我自己写文章也有这个问题的
