TOPIC: ISSUE50 - "In order to improve the quality of instruction at the college and university level, all faulty should be required to spend time working outside the academic world in professions relevant to the courses they teach."

Whether all faculty should be required to spend time working outside the academic world in occupations relevant to the subjects they teach is becoming a popular issue to which an increasing number of people have paid much attention. Different people have a variety of opinions owing to their knowledge, insights and understandings. As I am concerned, it is a good for faculty of some disciplines to receive accomplishment from working outside the academic while in some certain realms of research and science it is a waste of time to do such jobs.

First of all, when it comes to those who teach the very disciplines—such as economics, chemistry, accounting and administration--there is no doubt that they should learn from the society outside academic world and then instill not only knowledge on the textbooks but also the experience in the job conditions as well into students' minds . Once a professor get in touch with the field , which he or she teaches, in the society, he or she can make great progress due to practicing what he or she masters during the studies and researches in the college and university. A chemistry professor, for instance, who is expert in every aspect of chemistry in his or her classes, can speak out thousands of reactions between different materials without a pause. However, it is entirely possible that he or she cannot even give a good explanation to the integrated process which is used for industry compounds. Unless the professor engaged in such a job, hardly can he understand the complex procedure.

Furthermore, thanks to working outside the academic world, a professor can not only benefit a great deal but also give students a guideline on the future when they enter the physical society. It is just a truth that a professor may gain much more work experience in the physical society rather than in the realms of science and technology and as a result whenever a student prepares for his or her career, the professor can give some pieces of beneficial advice. He or she may remind the student of some formalities in the certain job, how to communicate with others even what the student should wear on the first day—let alone to how to do a good job.

On the other hand, it is unpractical to ask faculty to learn from occupations related to the courses they teach for the reason that perhaps there is not proper jobs in the very realms, including some disciplines like history, philosophy and literature. Taking philosophy for example, a professor might not find any job concerning about his or her researches thanks to the fact that none can make a life merely on his or her spirit and soul. What the philosophy professor should do is to study the courses to a deep extent in college and university in order to attempt to gain the superiority as well as throw away the dregs and then instill the knowledge to those who are thirsty for it.

In sum, an extreme conclusion that all faculty should working outside the academic is an unfairly and even opinionated speech. Faculty who teach the subjects that are relative to our life should get in touch frequently with the world outside college and university in order to catch up with the developing society and at the same time we should not expect those who teach such courses like history and philosophy to gain much from the fictive job.

As I am concerned, it is a good (缺少谓语,a good matter)for faculty of some disciplines to receive accomplishment from working outside the academic while in some certain realms of research and science it is a waste of time to do such jobs.(最好明确指出哪些学科的老师应该去外面工作,哪些学科不必去外面工作,比如:和实践结合紧密的学科宜去外面工作,搞理论的不需要等等~~~毕竟第一段很关键,是需要出彩的地方)

However,(慎用该词,因为该词后面一般是作者主旨观点所在,用yet比较合适) it is entirely possible that he or she cannot even give a good explanation to the integrated process which is used for industry compounds.(discuss more specifically, for example: she cannot even explain the principle of a simple chemical reaction, such as how to distill hexane, not to mention how to purify the crude oil.也许更生动哦 ) Unless the professor engaged in such a job, hardly can he understand the complex procedure.(整体感觉这段的说理不是很充分,TS太长不精炼,建议把一些解释放在进一步的推理当中,更实践结合紧密的学科应该是practical-related吧)

What the philosophy professor should do is to study the courses to a deep extent in college and university in order to attempt to gain the superiority as well as throw away the dregs and then instill the knowledge to those who are thirsty for it.

In sum(in sum是总计,总和的意思吧?应该用In summary), an extreme conclusion that all faculty should working outside the academic is an unfairly and even opinionated speech. Faculty who teach the subjects that are relative to our life should get in touch frequently with the world outside college and university in order to catch up with the developing society and at the same time we should not expect those who teach such courses like history and philosophy to gain much from the fictive job.
