Issue17
The speakerasserts that since there are two types of laws: just and unjust everyindividual has a responsibility to obey just ones and disobey andresist unjust ones. I agree with the speaker's board assertion that weshould not comply with some truly unjust laws, for both ourselves andour responsibility for the society. However, the speaker ignores otheraspects of laws--the way it in to effect and the result which is dependon its nature if we obey it(这句好象和后面没有对应上).
I concernthat the speaker is on the correct philosophical side of this issue. After all, the ultimate aim of laws is to afford our society just rulesto improve the civil level of our society. If the laws which arecarrying out is unjust the aim is hard to achieve. And each individualin the society have the responsibility making a great effort to abetter future of our society---more equal, more democratic, morefreedom and all these if want to become true need a higher standard oflaws--more equal, more just, considering more details in differentconditions and providing more effective way to forbid behaviorsbreaking the rules of society. And all of the above can not become truein one day and be satisfied in one time, so here need reform and ifwant reform the first step is to doubt current laws which are not fairand then do something to improve it.
While wemust take the responsibility to change our society to be better by opposing the unfair regulations, at the same time(有while了,这个好象多余) we should becircumspect about the way to show the sense of responsibility andshould not ignore the way laws come true. As we know, a civil anddemocratic society need law to maintain, at least in nowadays, and oneimportant element affords law a possibility to bring into play is itsauthority in ruling individuals and groups' behaviors. Laws are also an(laws vs an)important method that government manages its people. If the authorityis challenged and broken(challenged=>broken?), laws just lost their ability to regulate andso lost its meaning to exist and government lose its charge ability toa great degree. And that is why as a upright citizen also has the dutyto obey and respect laws in order to afford society a rule to abide byand forbid society suffering from a confuse of anarchism(anarchism怎么产生的?).
Anotherissue the arguer fails to consider is the actual effect if individualdisobeys some unjust laws, which may not develop as the author predict. As the author say, every individual has a responsibility to disobey andresist unjust laws and the aim of that is, of course, not only forindividual profits but also, in most degree, for improving the equalityand democracy of society. But the effect of this movement is dubious, since in most conditions person who break the law is treated as acriminal but not a hero, seldom can have interesting to listen why heor she commit the crime. The most probability of that is an punishmentto himself or herself but no change in the unjust law. A better way tochange the unjust laws is to give advisement to the government, anddiscuss the problem to final find a way to solve it.
(这段还清楚)
In sum, theauthor's statement that individual has a responsibility to improvingthe legal environment is appropriate, but the method to disobey laws isnot effective and appropriate enough, we' better to use milder waysuch as give an advice to the government to solve the problem(这段和原文基本上对应,比开头对应得好). |
