Nascar racing on TV now offers view the drivers can never get, new software allows the viewers to see the air flows around the speeding cars in real time. University of Washington computer scientists have developed software that simulates the way fire and smoke behave in real time, for training simulations for firefighters and for more realistic video games. But one application well done with Nascar, called drift track, the technology was used to generate the images of air flow for the first time in the late July, for the all state 400 Nascar Indianapolis, drift track calculate the air flow over the speeding cars, and displace it as green, blue, yellow or red stream behind the vehicles, the colors represent different speeds and directions of air flow when two or more cars approach each other, the idea is for the viewer to get a visual feel for drifting, the strategy of tuck-in in behind another car riding efficiently in the slip stream. Drifting lets drivers pick up speed and save fuel, after which they can really air it out.

多听了几遍,又根据LZ的结果修改了一下,比较完整了

Broadway has a new production of heir the wind(依然没听出来) based on 1925 scope’s monkey trial. And the American museum of natural history has a new hall of human argens(不确定). A short item(一条新闻的意思) on Monday’s New York Times editorial page about the play and exhibit finished by reminding us that chimp DNA is almost 99% identical to human DNA. The item (还是一样的意思) then says, perhaps jokingly, that creationists can take heart in different 1% as a 1% chance that evolution did not happen. Well, joker not people might take this seriously. (这句不太确定) After all, it is on the editorial page of New York Times. So let’s trace this out, in fact the approximate 1% difference in the DNA sequences of human’s and chimp’s is living documentation of the random genetic mutations that have been selected in the 60 million years or so, since we and chimps split away from our common ancestor. That 1% DNA differences doesn't represent small chance that evolution did not happen. It is the record of evolution that did happen. We all are monkey’s uncle.

NASCAR racing on TV now offers a view the drivers can never get. New software allows viewers to see the airflow around the speeding cars in real time. University of Washington computer scientists have developed software that simulated the way fire and smoke behave in real time for training simulations, for firefighters and for more realistic video games. But one application wound up with NASCAR called “Draft Track”. The technology was used to generate images of airflow for the first time in late July for the Allstate 400 NASCAR event in Indianapolis. Draft Track calculates airflow over the speeding cars and displays it as either a green, blue, yellow or red stream behind the vehicles. The colors represent different speeds and directions of airflow when two or more cars approach each other. The idea is for the viewer to get a visceral feel for drafting, the strategy of tucking in behind another car and riding efficiently in a slipstream. Drafting lets drivers pick up speed and save fuel after which they can really air it out.

Mongoose-python fights get all it in. But here in the US, squires and rattle snakes have had noteworthy interaction relationship. One might even call the indirect heated, literally. Because researchers had discovered that California ground squirrels heat their tail up as a signal to rattlesnake to keep away from baby squirrels. The report is on the Proceeding of National Academy of Sciences. Squirrels waved their tails at snakes to appear bigger and ticked off, and it was known that squirrels wave their tails more vigorously in the dark than in daylight. While the rattlesnake can sense infrared radiation AKA heat. So the researchers used an infrared camera to record squirrel-rattlesnake encounters. They also record face-offs between squirrels and gopher snakes which can not sense heat. And they found that squirrels heated up their tails somehow when they deal with rattles. But squirrels did not bother to turn on their heat when they waved their tails at gopher snakes. So a heatable tail seems to allow a squirrel to say to a rattlesnake: “move along, things here is too hot.”

:)   It was almost perfect, shucks!

Again it was the a's, the the's and the its'. All those irritating little words that just refuse to come out right.  :)

...riding efficiently in its slipstream.

The sentence makes more sense with "its" in there, doesn't it? Top down, top down!

What is 滑流?

Don’t Chinese translations simply confuse us even more?

It’s about time to pick up an English English dictionary; and there are plenty of good ones out there on the internet. Try it and you will be amazed at how much more precisely you can understand a word or a phrase when you read the English definitions.

People who are still using English Chinese dictionaries are putting themselves at a disadvantage at the game of TOEFL.
