VO：How are you！（美男）

Me：Great！

VO：So you are going to University of xxx?

Me: Yes, i am going to University of xxx. (停顿3秒）Law school.

VO: Oh, Law school. LLM or Jd?

Me: Masters of Law, LLM.

VO: May I see your offer letter?

Me: Here you are.  This is my admission letter. （这是他看了的唯一的东西）

VO: Do you know the name of University of xxx's basketball team?

Me: No, sorry.

VO: Let me check it on the internet.（他开始敲键盘）

Me: I only know Seven-sixer in NBA is from Phily.

VO: Yes. I am saying the University's basketball team.

Me:Oh.

VO: Oh, it's Quakers. Let me write it down for you.（他在取护照签证的小白条背面写下了Quakers，递给了我）

Me: OK.

VO: Do watch the basketball game of Quakers. It's great!

Me: Ok. I will.  Is it NAAC? (其实是NCAA，我说错了）

VO: Yes. I only like to watch College basketball games.  it's a culture.  You should watch it!

Me: Thank you. I will.

一、       关于专业问题的阐述

1.       What will you study in the US?

I will pursue a master of Laws degree in the University of xxx and I plan to focus my study on Corporate Law.

2.       Why do you want to study law in the US?

America has one of the most advanced legal systems and the legal education in US is unparalleled worldwide.  Hence, a LLM degree from the US will enhance my international network of professional contacts, strengthen my ability to represent and advocate for my future international clients, and provide me with a better career prospect.

3.       Why do you want to pursue a master’s degree?

Practicing law is highly competitive.  A LLM degree will provide me with a better career starting point.  I have checked many top law firms recruitment websites and all of them unanimously state that “Excellent spoken and written English is a must.  And most of them specifically emphasize that “Overseas education is preferred” or “Foreign bar admission is preferred”.

4.       Why not JD instead of LLM?

JD is designed for people who wish to practice law in America.  For me to accomplish my goal of becoming a leading legal practitioner in China, LLM degree satisfies my need and it is the most efficient and effective method.

二、       关于选择美国选择学校方面的阐述

5.       Why do you choose this Univeristy?

I am most attracted to xxx Law’s leadership in Corporate-related law and its stimulating and supportive intellectual environment, which guarantees a superb legal education.  Also, xxx Law enjoys high reputation among China’s legal professionals and it has a strong alumni network in China.

6.       How many institutions have you applied?

Five.  Four of them accepted me.  Among these four, yyy and zzz awarded me scholarship, yy,000 and zz,000 USD respectively.  However, I chose xxx Law over them because I believe an educational investment in xxx Law is more worthwhile and will be lifelong beneficial to me.

7.       Your parents’ income per year?

Their salary combined is ***rmb, as shown from these certificate.

8.       How can they afford？

My family has prepared enough money for me to further my legal education.  They believe in the return for educational investment and they saved up money to ensure I can receive the best education I could.  The bank deposit shows a RMB deposit equally to almost ***USD.  Therefore, the 58,000USD for my study is indeed affordable.

9.       What do your parents do?

They both work for ***.  My father is *** and my mother is ***.

四、       回国计划部分的阐述

12. What is your plan after graduation?

With a LLM degree from xxx Law, I will return to China, take the Chinese judicial exam, and become an attorney in a challenging law firm that promises long-term growth potential.  I have confidence that I will have a successful career in China in the future.

13. Do you plan to seek employment in US after you have completed your studies?

No.  I am more interested in practicing law in China.  China’s legal market has huge potential to be tapped.  Besides, I am the only child of my family and I wish to take good care of my parents.

14. Do you have work experience?

I have had many internships and part-time jobs.  I haven't got any formal work experience.
