130"How children are socialized today determines the destiny of society. Unfortunately, we have not yet learned how to raise children who can help bring about a better society."
1, how children are socialized today 对社会确实有影响,但并没有到决定destiny of society的地步。 Beat generation
3, 说we have not learned是不负责任的,实际上很多时候我们都在积极地引导children’s acting and participating within our society.

Is it true that how children are socialized today determines the destiny of society? Should we learn how to raise children in the way that they can finally bring about a better society while we have not been competent for this assignment as the speaker contends? In my opinion, how children are socialized today do have an influence on society but is not eligible [ not eligible 表明其没有资格成为决定因素之一,是否用错了,与前半截矛盾]for determine the destiny of it. Also, it is illegitimate to doubt our ability of socializing children in this aspect. However, to what extent are we supposed to and able to socialize children is a nicety question that will result in plenty of discussions in today’s era of limitless information.
First of all, children, who are easily affected by the contemporary society and the accumulated experience[如何解释?], are the protagonist of tomorrow. This makes their ways and extent of socialization to have an incontestable impact on the future of a society. The moral norms, attitudes, values, motives and so on being taught and held by them today are the mainstream standard of our future society in some sense. However, the destiny of society is not merely determined by how children are socialized today, but by something that is more complicated---generally speaking, the agglomeration of all the past generations and the dynamic alternation of times. [TS位置靠后了些,如果直接一些可能效果更好]Take Beat Generation for example, though we have already walked through Generation X, Generation Y and so forth, the currently western cultures and even the future western society are still broadly influenced by the beats, by their concepts of the spiritual liberation, sexual “revolution” and “liberation” etc. This is nowhere more proper than on the demonstration that the destiny of society is not only determined by the new generation’s beliefs and values---that is how children are socialized today. In addition, the unpredictable incident in contemporary life and environment also can stimulate the reasonable change out of society. The September 11, 2001 attacks certainly changed the moving direction of our society for large extent. Yet it has a scant relation with the reason stated by the speaker.[本段的观点强烈赞成, 可例证说明当今的教育传承了信仰与价值观,和将来社会命运会有关,好象偏离了命题中的socialization 问题]
Moreover, we are not able to and also not supposed to raise children who can ultimately bring us a better society. Today’s society has been driven on the track of accelerated mutation. Under the exploding environment of global media and new digital democracy, the resources necessarily provided to children for acting and participating within their society today are not only from family and education, but also from the boundless information on internet, TV or other media. Because of these various avenues of inquiry, nowadays, culture conflict is intensifying, gender roles are diverging and generation gaps are aggrandizing. Based on all these circumstances, what is a better society? What are social norms? The answers are not supposed to and not able to be furnished or constrained by the alleged seniors, but call for the understanding and inquiring of children themselves. Most of the time, the job left for us is to bequeath them an elementary framework of social norms; meanwhile to leave them enough space to build up their own value system. This is influential for social evolvement and diversity.[指出命题中对better定义的非可行性]
Talking about the delivering of the framework about social norms, we actually are not that inexpedient as the speaker described. For example, in China, parents tell their children the folkways related to the society’s web of cultural rituals, traditions and routines. Such as the norms of addressing an older person with respect words but not by calling his or her name directly; or of gathering around in Chinese New Year with family. Today, these basic social norms are still preserved firmly within Chinese people. At the same time, in US, education system teaches children what’s the mores of the society, like the drug use are considered a threat to social organization and harshly sanctioned. In fact the No Child Left Behind Act has made the establishment of Safe& Drug-Free Schools as one item inside it. Putting aside these particular examples, underlying influences from family, education or society all over the world are endeavoring to pass on our basic socialization denominators to children, to their next generation. Most of the time, we are guiding children's acting and participating within our society actively.[多个例子说明现今教育中对下一代培养的重视,反驳命题中教育的无所适从]
In sum, despites the merits of how children are socialized today, the destiny of society are determined by discrepant other facts. In this labyrinthine society, the load on socializing children is not supposed to and not able to fallen on our shoulder wholly. Instead we only need to provide children with some basic frameworks on social norms. The fact is we have been exerting ourselves on this problem and one can not unwarrantedly claim the achievement is slender
