　　而一部书恰如一首诗，若不能令人有些微感动，总难说是上品。即便是偏于严肃深沉的学术著作，只要是“好”的，也会因作者的立场、功力、态度、文字等等，引来凤栖梧，获得真心的赞誉。

　　江湖夜雨，未令人失望。他的新书《长安月下红袖香----盛世浮华中的女子背影》,让上自皇宫深苑里的嫔妃、宫女，下至才情超卓的名妓或烟花柳巷的娼尤、贫病交加的底层女子，在一千多年后的今天，再次鲜活于字里行间，再度诗意地呈现她们的喜怒哀乐、恩怨情仇。

In September 2006, the Genographic Project embarked on an expedition to the mountainous regions of Central Asia to better understand the genetic history of human settlement in the Pamir Mountains. The multinational research team included myself and three other scientists from the North Eurasian Genographic regional center, many local staff, and two scientists from National Geographic Society. We traveled overland 1,245 miles (2,000 kilometers) in a caravan of old Soviet jeeps to meet with members of several isolated populations in the region.

Many months of initial local outreach and preparation were behind us. Our widely collaborative sampling effort was not restricted to Tajikistan, and we were also able to cross the Panj River into adjacent Afghanistan, where our team's successful outreach and sampling constituted the first such fieldwork there in decades.

书中还有一些在正史中难得一见的“诗人往事”。 譬如说，在写到唐玄宗的妹妹玉真公主时，大诗人王维和李白均有献给她的佳作，但同为孟浩然及其他一些大诗人好友的他们，彼此间从无酬唱应答。本书作者提出了一个大胆的猜想：因为他们同为玉真公主的情人，彼此间存有尴尬。作者不仅以诗为证，还以一些史实佐证，使得这种设想十分丰盈可信。而李白与玉真公主间，确有深情。因唐玄宗将李白贬出京师，玉真公主不同意，便赌气自免公主名号，散尽大部钱财，远赴安徽敬亭山修炼，直至终老于此。李白也写过一些牵挂玉真公主的诗句，其中有一首为“众鸟高飞尽，孤云独去闲。相看两不厌，只有敬亭山”。了解了这些背景，我们才明白，他思念的是敬亭山上的人而非这座山。天下美景多矣，深爱的人却寥寥。后来玉真公主在山上辞世，李白在山下的一个小城亡故。这样的凄美绝艳，颇似梁羽生笔下的白发魔女与卓一航。
