作文(花钱问题)

Some people think governments should spend as much money as possible exploring outer space (for example, traveling to the Moon and to other planets). Other people disagree and think governments should spend this money for our basic needs on Earth. Which of these two opinions do you agree with? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer.

Hardly can we deny that exploring space is meaningful and useful to human future. But our world recently suffers from hunger, pollution; and billions of children are unavailable to education. In this situation, researching space is too luxury. From my point of view, it is advisable to spend large amounts of money on human basic needs rather than on space exploration. My argument for this point listed as follows.

According to a recent survey of WFP (World Food Programme), there are 6,241,512 people dying of hunger. If we spend the enormous money which use on space for those who are unable to afford food, we can save large members of lives. It is obviously that lives in the earth are more important than the unknown space.

Another reason is that taking measures on pollution which damages our living environment is more practical. For example, we can reward a cleaner world by reducing the air pollution and water pollution. What is more, rate of the diseases caused by the pollution will also decrease. In the contrast, up till now, no visible benefits have been achieved in the exploration of space.

In addition, education is the urgent need for the children who can’t go to school. Children are the future of the world. We should guarantee all the children in the world have the chance to get knowledge if possible. So, if the government has money, they should use it for children not space.

Admittedly, space research does have its own value, for example, satellite-replayed TV broadcasting, excavating the vast potential of solar system resources. However, the problems of poverty, pollution and children’s unavailable to education are more urgent and valuable for government to take measures. I therefore reinforce my standpoint to support the government to spend money on basic needs.

Do you agree that childhood is the happiest (or precious) time in life

Many people believe that the happiest period in one's life is childhood. I agree with the statement because of following reasons. On onehand, most of us had little  study pressure on the shoulder. We didn't have to care for the competition of the study. On the other hand, we had a lot of time to play with our friends. For example, I always had a wonderful time with my neighborhoods after school when i was a child. Therefore, childhood is the happiest time in life.

My argument for this point listes as follows.

According to a recent survey of WFP (World Food Programme), there are 6,241,512 people dying of hunger. If we spend[spent] the enormous money which [would be used]use on space for those who are unable to afford food, we can[could] save large members of lives.[我觉得这句应该说的是若是把打算花在outer space上的钱转投资方向的话,blabla...;应该是假设吧..] It is obviously that lives in the earth are more important than the unknown space.

Another reason is that taking measures on pollution which damages our living environment is more practical. For example, we can reward a cleaner world by reducing the air pollution and water pollution.[这句没看懂] What is more, rate of the diseases caused by the pollution will also decrease. In the contrast, up till now, no visible benefits have been achieved in the exploration of space.[讨论的是花钱,但是这段谈的是采取措施来保护环境;要这样写的话,应该写明采取的措施和花钱有密切关系吧;末句是不是和最后一段的admittedly矛盾啊?]

In addition, education is the urgent need for the children who can’t go to school. Children are the future of the world. We should guarantee all the children in the world have the chance to get knowledge if possible. So, if the government has money, they should use it for children not space.[这段很好]

Admittedly, space research does have its own value, for example, satellite-replayed TV broadcasting, excavating the vast potential of solar system resources. However, the problems of poverty, pollution and children’s unavailable to education are more urgent and valuable[why use this word?confused..] for government to take measures. I therefore reinforce my standpoint to support the government to spend money on basic needs.
