"Public figures such as actors, politicians, and athletes should expect people to be interested in their private lives. When they seek a public role, they should expect that they will lose at least some of their privacy."


I totally agree with the author's assertion that public figures should expect people to be interested in their private lives and lose some of their privacy.

In the first place.The mass become interested in public figures' private lives due to worship and curiosity .Public figures such as actors, politicians, and athletes are mostly people who have made a large contribution in their own field. These contributions are either original or greater than  that of the forerunners'. For example an actor may performs a figure that is better than all others' and impresses greatly  on our memories. An athlete created and keeps many records in his field, and contributes to give others spiritual power. A politician under pressure from all around the nation, insisted his plans or policy which turned out to be quite right afterwards .These figures ,with their own superior characters cause much curiosity among the mass .Having be familiar with their public images,the mass will inevitably become curious about  their private images. They want to know every respects of their lives, and to find out the reasons that made them successful.

At the same time, the media, in order to get more profits from their readers, unnecessarily and even illegally reports the privacy of public figures. As readers become interested in private news, more and more medias get into the market of exploring private news hoping to get some profits,and this lead to competition. If one tells the same story others have said, it may not attract potential readers.Thus, to discover unreported privacy, it has to use come illegal means.More and more privacy both real and imaginary  are discovered and created. So the media may become popular among readers and get more profits, meanwhile readers will get the information they need. Such a reciprocal deal will encourage both sides to continue their activities.

However, we should not pay too much attention to public figures' private lives.We often hear that an actor or athlete prosecutes a newspaper or a TV station for it reported his privacy without his permission or reported imaginary stories of him. These reports may affect his private lives, for they are often disturbed by reporters and fans or supporters  .Everything they do will be seen on tomorrow's TVs and newspapers. They are totally exposed to the public! And the imaginary privacy may even damage their public images, for they have no backgrounds and are mostly created with  certain aim. Thus these illegal activities will lead to unnecessary troubles.

Finally, Public figures should expect people to be interested in their private lives and lose some of their privacy due to their distinguishes and curiosity of people.  At the same time, we should not care  too much about their privacy, leaving them their own spaces and time.
