Argument94[攻克aw第三次作业] by Tuexy
94The following appeared in a memo from the president of Bower Builders, a company that constructs new homes.

"A nationwide survey reveals that the two most desired home features are a bathroom with a whirlpool tub and a large kitchen. Homes in a nearby development built by our competitor, Domus Construction, have whirlpool tubs and have sold much faster and at significantly higher prices than the average. To increase our sales and profits, we should include whirlpool tubs and larger kitchens as standard features in all our new homes. Since our recent buyers have voiced no complaints about small yards, we can also increase profits by decreasing the size of our yards."

In the memo of president of Bower Builder (BB), the president believe that BB's sales and profits will increase if its new-home includes whirlpool tubs and larger kitchens and decreasing the yards space. Before his recommendation, a national survey presented, which reveals that a most desired home should build with those features. Meanwhile, the president remember to provide a real evidence for supporting his conclusion, which is that the Domus Construction(DC), a competitor to BB, sold much faster and at significantly higher than average. Although it looks like plausible, however, close scrutiny to this argument, I find it unsubstantial in several regions.
To begin my analysis, I doubt at the truth of such a nationwide survey. As I aside from knowing when and how the survey conducted, who or which organization directed it, evenly why he or it held it. Apparently, if this survey conducted many years ago, such as ten or twelve years before, it would amount no power to reveal which is the most striking new-home character. Meanwhile, if such a survey is justly conducted on family new-home prospective costumers, who are more possible inclined to bathing and cooking in home, the survey will ignore other but dominated new-home seeker, such as younger, old, students, or abject fathers or mothers, then it will have little weight on substantiating the president's perspective. Furthermore, we shouldn't ignore the factor that who ran this nationwide survey. If he or the organization is just to cater to some special individual or group's benefits, then, it would be stand on the untrue face again.
Beside the doubt about the truth of the survey, I am also uncertain at what caused DC's increasing. Is it true enough that its increasing justly comes from it built the new homes with bathroom including whirlpool? And if it is true, is it necessary suggested that BB will increase its sales by accordingly adopting such measures. Actually, the increasing of DC's sales may based on diverse other facts, such as its changing excellent ad strategy, ameliorated reputation, significantly adjusted building and adorning technique; then, even if whirlpool tubs may be related with its increasing sales but it will high possible merely take a little accounting. To be further, even if whirlpool tubs work sufficiently on the increasing, it doesn’t indicate that BB will correspondingly increase by such a revision. Perhaps that BB is run on its peak trade now, naturally, it won't increasing more even such building constructed. In not dissimilar belief, if BB was regard as the "poor product corporation", the increasing won't occur also.
In the final but not last analysis, I also focus on the president’s belief that BB's profit will increase by decreasing the size of the new home yards since recent buyers have not grouch about their small yards homes. Undoubtedly, the president assume upon several shambled assumptions. Firstly, no complaints don't necessarily suggest the costumers prefer to small yards. Maybe those recent costumers happen to be slothful at exercise or walking in yards, they regard them as just a squandering of time. It is possible, however, major populaces prone to own a big yards. Second, there are no evidences that the increase would parallel the decrease of the size of the yards. Of course, a house with small yards will cost less money for BB to build and maybe more possible to reward after sales. Otherwise, the selling price of such a house will accordingly be less as to fit its real values. Then, the result profit would increase less especially such home has less potential costumers.
In sum, the argument is unsubstantial as it doesn't provide sufficent evidences at the verity of the survey, which is the most essential for the increasing of DC, and the relation between the small yards and the profit increasing of BB, so it wouldn’t convince me with the president's recommendation. To best assess it, I need more information about the citizen and circumstance factors associated with the increasing of a home corporation profits or status quo of BB and other competitors’ circs.
