I totally agree with the statement about the current careerism. It is the very fact that most people choose their career on the basis of pragmatic considerations rather than their natural talents or interests in a particular kind of work. What we should consider when we choose our career? Exclude the marketable skill, another two factors should go into equaltion by which a career decision is calculated.

In the first place, I must concede that pragmatic considerations such as the needs of the economy, the relative ease of finding a job sometimes is very necessary for us. People born into poverty, it is possible that he just want to earn money to support his family, raise his son and daughter, rather than enjoy work. Life for him is not enjoying something, but always hard work for a simple target. In addition, Current time is a competitive time, some youth who dreamed to have an interesting work just found the mandant can not satisfied himself, so a job which is just a job becomes his compromised choice.

In the second place, I will discuss the one of another factors mentioned above. a vocation should be ideally a vocation. This job must be "fun", it is a job which can interest people even after years in this profession. You never feel tired in this career, you are always full of energy, you are likely to contribute every bit of your energy into this career. The people who are doing exactly what they like to do, people who make a fortune career, is surprisingly rare. In many engineering field, people get weary of their jobs, search around other jobs, often leaving their own profession together, this circumstances is very upset. So the enjoyment is a significant factor by which a career decision is made.

In the third place, another factor is that people should be proud of what they achieve. Building a bridge connecting a previously isolated community can be a source of private and satisfying undertaking. Building a dam on a river which wipes out the wild whitewater and which pollutes the water body can not be a source of proud, whatever the boss said, no matter the political favors and deals involved. In this way, if what we do offend our soul and against our principle, which always make us uncomfortable, then it is not a suitable job from our private aspect.

In sum, the world is becoming more and more pragmatic, some people give up  dreams for adapting this various world, some people choose a hard way to obey their voice from the very deep heart, some of them lost, some of them won. But still people are trying. What I worship is the way to find what you really want, and achieve it as possible as you can.
