==============================ISSUE 50=====================================
In order to improve the quality of instruction at the college and university level, all faculty should be required to spend time working outside the academic world in professions relevant to the courses they teach.
Whether the faculty of the university should do the working that outside their academic world? I will say so without hesitate, but i am not totally agree in the aspect that require the outside working area to be limited to the relevant courses, it narrowly define the scope.
The study of the areas out of their academy will be a useful supplement for their academic world. There are two aspects that I want to explain to support this assertion.
First of all, in the academic world, there isn't exist a subject that can isolated from all the other subjects to make prominent completion. And it is always the knowledge outside the tradition academic world that make huge success or discovery. We can set Leonardo da Vinci for example, he is a genius that both an expert in mathematics and a talented painter. Just for his knowledge in the mathematics world that he created the scenography that make his painting look more real and appealing, then it finally come the famous painting Mona Lisa and other prominent works. So in the university we also need the professors to go out the academic world to know about some skills and knowledge in the other areas to get the complementary and discover the new things.
Secondly, Crossing in the areas is inevitable and also should not be neglected. Suppose you are an expert in the subject of physics and it is quite sure that you will encounter with some problems that need the mathematical method to solve it, at this time the situation require you to study in the area of mathematics. And in the history of physical world there are a lot of giants that both can be called mathematician and physicist, such as Newton, he is the one who proposed the three famous classical dynamic theories and also he is the right person who create the calculus which can be called a considerable progress in mathematics. So the subject itself calls for the professors to research in the areas that relevant to the courses they teach.
What's more, I think the scope for the faculty in the university to work can not be limited to the small world that just seems relevant to the courses. Nobody will know what it will come to be when you learn something that seems irrelevant to your courses ,and it has a huge possibility that it will give you a surprising progress in your area. An idea will comes to mind when you are listening to the classical music. And maybe you will invent a brilliant method to do the research when you are just considering the ancient people's working method. In the areas that seems irrelevant to your courses is also a huge resource that will give you inspirations for your academic research.
In conclusion, the faculty in the university should and must do the working that outside the academic world, the outside areas can be any areas, not the only subjects that relevant to the courses they teach. It is a useful and important way for the professors to raise the level of their research and also the depth for the teaching courses.
