The editorial is not convictive as it supposes that the stated correlation implies causation, which is not necessary the case. The arguer asserts that Gulf Coast oyster will gain greater profits due to the killing of bacteria could increase the price of oyster. As it stands, the argument is exposed to several critical logic flaws as follows.

To begin with, the dependability of the precondition is open to doubt. The arguer has not presented any data and valid evidence to support the hypothesis that the bacteria would be cleaned up. Maybe the sample of the oysters are not representative which dose not collected the unhealthy ones, so detected result is not accurate and can not explain the whole condition. It is entirely possibilities that the essential reason which induce bacteria has not been eliminated and could bring on other hidden troublesome diseases. Failing out to clarify those questions, the precondition can not serve as a powerful basis for the argument.

Furthermore, even if we concede that there is in fact creditable about the presumption, this does not necessarily means that consumers would not agree with the price increasing of Gulf Coast oysters. Maybe the quality and fresh degree does not catch up to the standards of customs. In fact, according to the influence of Market economy, it might be the case that after the bacteria has been weeded out, the price of northeastern Atlantic Coast would be declined to the original level, and the price of Gulf Coast oysters would be unaltered. Without considering those possibilities, it is groundless to put out the prediction that the consumers would pay as much for Gulf Coast oysters as for the current price of northeastern Atlantic Coast oysters.

Finally, even if we presume that the veracity of the oysters' price rise, we can not guarantee that the Gulf Coast oyster producers will get greater profits. On one hand, perhaps the spending of killing bacteria is counteracted even exceeded the profits they attained. On the other hand, reputation is easy to destroy but hard to regain. Although the scientists have now devised a process for killing bacteria, many consumers are probably still doubtful of the quality of the oyster. It will be a long time and need strenuous work to conciliate their suspicion.

To sum up, the argument lacks of comprehensive demonstration. In order to make his suggestion more reasonable, it is necessary to setting out extensive and convincing analysis and evidence.
