        It is obvious that people will find it almost impossible to come to the agreement to this highly controversial issue.I agree that sometimes people could gain more knowledge by learning on their own.Nevertheless,I think that colledge education has some advantages,which cannot be acquired by self-learning and really do good to people in the long term.Whether to enter a university or study individually?I think it depends.
        There is no doubt that joining a university is not necessary to everyone nowadays.Education given by universities is sometimes not suitable to some people,especially those who have strong learning skills.In a university,people who major in the same subject will receive the same education,which will certainly stops some excellent students from showing their specific abilities.Experience from one of my best friends could be a good example.He is a smart boy with great enthusiasm in computer programming.Unfortunately,
he was forced to drop out of the university in his junior year because he failed to pass several major courses.But after that,he continued learning programming by himself unremittingly.Now he has become a senior programmer in a famous software company and earns a high salary.My friend’s example shows that in some cases,college education might be unsuitable to some people.They can learn more important and useful things on their own.
        However,we should not neglect the advangtages of college education.First of all,universities offer systematical curriculum,quali-
fied staff,libraries,facilities and something else which are not available to individuals who study on their own.With strong ability of reading and learning,some people might read and learn more without the restrictions of a university.But how can they do experiments which are essential to people who engage in science and engineering?And it is difficult for them to find an expert to consult when they meet with problems.Taking these factors into consideration,one can not draw the conclusion that self-learning is always better than college education.
        Moreover,compulsory education avoids laziness. Every university has its own complete disciplines to ensure that all the students study efficiently.Students who are against the rules will be punished.Without the supervision of a university,one is likely to become slack due to his or her nature instincts,which will greatly reduces the efficiency of learning.Citing my own experience as an example.Once I planned to learn C language on my own in summer holiday.Although two months is quite enough to read through the book,I finished only half of the book and I was still on the threshold of this language at the end of the holiday. But when I started the new semester,C language is taught as a major course in the university.I was forced to take the lessons and finish many projects,which resulted in the fact that I mastered this language.It is obvious that the school has made a positive effect on my study because it prevents me from slacking off in my studies and keeps me learning.To draw a conclusion,to people who have not strong self-control,college education is a better choice.
        Last but not least,a quailified degree helps people get a job more easily.Although many people hold the opinion that ability is more important than degree,we cannot deny the fact that degrees still play an important role in today’s society.Except for some special cases,it is almost impossible to get a good job without a degree.Some companies have established bottom lines for their prospective employees,which include a bachelor’s degree in specific area.As far as I am concerned,unless you have some special abilities which might be limited in universities,it is necessary to pursue a degree in a qualified university.
        In the final analysis,it seems that joining a university is better than learning by oneself in most cases.But self-learning is also feasible to some kinds of people.Which method to choose depends on people’s ability of learning,self-control,funds and something else.
