改小错误。
I strongly disagree with the assertion that governments should focus more on solving the immediate problems of today rather than trying to solve the problems of futures. Regarding the term 'immediate' to 'important' is simply wrongheaded.
Admittedly, the immediate problems are usually the important ones, which always serve as the prerequisite for the other problems. Without dealing with these immediate problems well, it is highly unlikely we can have chance to solve the other problem. The typical example coming immediately into mind is what happened in China nearly forty years ago. The top leader, in 70th when the majority Chinese people were still struggling with poverty and starve, lunched an activity throughout the nation called culture revolution, calling people stopping production and going to streets and take part in the activities. The wrong decision which ignore the immediate and urgent problem of China is economic develop lead to a great loss in economy and human life, and throw China near the edge of debacle of economy and other public affairs. Until 1978, The Chinese leader realized which the most critical and immediate problem is to economy development and implemented the open up and reform policy which help China make great achievement in economy and other area. The lesson told us how important it is to solve the immediate problem well, only by doing this, can the other things have chance to be considered.
However, the assertion that immediate problem are important does not deny the importance of some future problems, which to some degree serve as even critical function in a long term. For a country, the immediate problems are to develop the economy and guarantee the good living condition for the people, which are the basic requirement of people and of nation as a whole. Some long term problem, such as education, scientific research, are attached more importance by the government because their potential benefits. For instance, scientific research cannot produce any product immediately to benefit our life, but great revolution it brings to our life which makes our more convenient is far beyond our imagination. Consider what the world looks like before the emergence of computers, and try to consider what our current life will be like without computers. Then let's turn to the function of education, the same as scientific research, which also cannot provide us any tangible production in a short term, but the significance influence on nation's development is obvious. Without the support of education, we cannot have sufficient skilled labor forces as well as leaders, all the workers required for the daily operation of the big society.
In sum, it is far from an easy task to draw a line between immediate problems and anticipated problems if we observe the world in a dynamic way. The anticipated problems can transformed to immediate in the future, thus it is highly important for us to strike a balance between immediate problems and anticipated problems to benefit the people and nation at best. |
