TOPIC: ISSUE4 - "No field of study can advance significantly unless outsiders bring their knowledge and experience to that field of study."
WORDS: 431          TIME: 00:55:44          DATE: 2007-8-1 下午 11:56:10

I strongly agree with the assertion that every field including science, history, and any other subjects can advance significantly only if outsiders bring their knowledge and experience to that field of study. Usually such an improvement results from multiple kinds of areas whose works bring radical changes.

To begin with, I will cite the example of physics which I am familiar with more than other subjects. At the beginning, physics was just combined with philosophy and most philosophers played a role as the physicists such as Aristotle. At that time, people viewed the world in a way which illustrated the world so vaguely that only left us a contradictable physical world. What is the world made up from? Ancient physicists explained the world as water, fire, earth and so on all of which seem so naive by the research nowadays. Then after the introduction of the math into the physics field, what we see from the material world is totally different. Anything, no matter conspicuous or unperceivable, is made up from the atoms, and from a even modern idea, atoms are made up from the quarks, structures so small that no experimental method could show their existence to the people. On a smaller scale, the relativity created by A. Einstein originated from the Riemann geometry, which was totally a new idea at that time. The relativity achieves a great attainment to the improvement of the study of cosmos, and lead to a great transition in the notion of the space and time.

In the domain of history, great progress is gained under the association from many different departments such as archeology, chemistry, biology and so on. How did Napoleon die in the prison? As an important historical event, there are few physical records left for us to pursue the truth. However, after a study on the hair of Napoleon, the researcher concludes that the great emperor was poisoned to death. In the whole process to discover the truth, archeologist first find out the hair left in the prison, then the chemists analyze the components of the hair, and finally, the biologists confirm the components poisonous to the human being. Only after the collaboration of so many specialists, the results could convince us the real aspect of the historical event.

As the examples showed above, we can conclude that no matter in the field of the physical world or the fields of human beings, outsiders are indispensable to both of them. And to study a specific subject, we must introduce exotic knowledge to enlarge our modes to think of the profundity of the world.

先给自己限了一个小时的issue,打字还是个问题,不然可以有更全面的观点。欢迎指正。这次不是中学生作文了。呵呵

To begin with, I will cite the example of physics which I am familiar with more than other subjects[这个从句有点多余]. At the beginning, physics was just combined with philosophy and most philosophers played a role as the physicists such as Aristotle. At that time, people viewed the world in a way which illustrated the world so vaguely that only left us a contradictable physical world. What is the world made up from? Ancient physicists explained the world as water, fire, earth and so on[别忘了逗号] all of which seem so naive by the research nowadays. Then after the introduction of the math into the physics field, what we see from the material world is totally different. Anything, no matter conspicuous or unperceivable, is made up from the atoms, and from a even modern idea, atoms are made up from the quarks,[缺少连接词,可以用whose吧] structures so small that no experimental method could show their existence to the people. On a smaller scale, the relativity [theory,要大写吧]created by A. Einstein originated from the Riemann geometry, which was totally a new idea at that time. The relativity achieves a great attainment [contributing] to the improvement of the study of cosmos, and lead to a great transition in the notion of the space and time.
