In the issue, the speaker considers that scandals are useful methods to focus our attention on problems in politics, academia, or other areas. However, it is too absolute to draw such a conclusion because of different conditions of different areas.

In politics areas, scandals are sensitive news whether about government or leaders. They could attract people to notice and think about problems which are reflected by scandals. But political scandals include two primary kinds. One is about policy, such as Water Gate Affairs. In this scandal, people begin to think about political disiplines of the United States in ways that no speaker or reformer ever metioned before, and push the evolution of politicy. The other is about leaders' private livings, such as Bill Cliton's sex scandal. This kind of scandals could not help people focus on thinking problems better. They just become political technology to push political revolution and people's chatting articles for funny, which could not focus human's attention on problem as the speaker says.

In academic areas, scandals always are serious problems about education, researching projects, famous scientists and so on. Academic scandals could focus people's attention on problems which have never been mentioned before. For example, the scandal on human clone of South Korea scientists attracts a lot of people to talk extensively and freely about cloning problem which has no professional conclusion. Some academic problems have not been noticed before a certain scandal happens. To some extent, scandals in academia help scientists find new problems and fresh projects which have not been pointed out before. It is a useful way to push academia develop that no speaker or reformer ever could.

In other areas, such as art and gym field, scandals become ways to amuse people and society more than fosus on social problems. Many famous art and gym stars have once involved in scandals. For example, Michel Jackson, the most famous popular singer, has so many scandals about his private life, such as cosmetic surgery and criminal lawsuits. These kinds of scandals could not be useful for people to facus on problems at all. Such private problems would happen everday and everywhere. The reason why people focus on them is for amusements other than finding problems.
