Who writes the history? Is the history written by the numerous common citizens or the kings, bishops judges and their modern counterparts? The answer to this question determines the emphasis of the history.

Common sense tells us that during the long history of civilization, the elite class controls the writing of history for most of the times. The priests in the Valley of Niles devoted their efforts in recording the revelations of Amon and the great feats of the pharaohs. The medieval monks prefers the deeds of saints  instead of common lives of serfs. The court historians spent their times on nobles breed instead of peasant's sufferings. Nevertheless, in some sense, this practice is justifiable. First, due to lacking scientific sampling methods and powerful equipment such as computers which can help to analyze and understand the trends of society , to focus on the common people's data is nearly an impossible mission for ancient historians. Second, the social situation of the ancient time means the important people's will often affects the society much more than today. As a result, their focus on influential persons seems the only practical way of writing history, and we cannot deny this practice has already given us plenty of information about the past.

However, the trend of historical study has already under great transformation. Nowadays, when trying to understands the underlying causes and influence of the historical events, the historians make great effort to find, sort analyze, and utilize information about common people.  For example, when study about the civil war, instead of burying themselves into Lincoln's personal letters or Grant's autography, historians are spending more time on an ordinary soldier's diary and a slave's writing to form a better view on the great strife in the most demographic country. And this kind of research has already yield more insightful and fresh perspective of the history.   

As the technology progress and people become more diversified, more and more ordinary people grasp the chance of recording their lives while the ever growing storing capacity of our recording medias ensures that more information could be saved. When even an illiterate farmer can record his joys and pains using a video camera, I believe the trend that history study will focus on plains individuals more and more will continue.

In sum, what does the history emphasis depends on the social situations and technology. While our society becomes more and more diversified and individual focused, I believe the common people will find their proper place in the history.

文章能对问题进行较系统的论证，并举出相关的例子，语言十分地道，能熟练的运用一些较难的单词（本人望尘莫及啊），可以看出作者深厚的语言功底.(不过也挑出了一点小毛病，呵呵)。论证方面，应该在段首提出鲜明的观点，有些论证与论题相差较远。不知道说的对不对，仅供参考，呵呵。
