The Department of Chemical Engineering, Sunmoon University, Asan City, S. Korea http://www.sunmoon.ac.kr) is looking for students who are interested in getting a Master or Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering. Students who major in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science & Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, or Applied Chemistry are encouraged to apply. All graduate students admitted for a master or PhD receive 80% tuition waiver (i.e., the graduate students need to pay US$800/semester only) and a stipend (~US$800/month for master students and ~US$1000 for PhD students). This graduate program, which will start from March 1st, 2008, is in cooperation with Korean Research Institute of Chemical Technology (KRICT), Daejon, S. Korea http://www.krict.re.kr). The graduate students admitted will take credit courses at Sunmoon University and conduct their research at KRICT. The research is related to two main areas: polymer electrolyte membranes for fuel cells and their application to direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC); and composite membranes for gas separation and pervaporation.
Founded in 1972, Sunmoon University is a key university in Chungcheong Namdo, S. Korea. The goals of Sunmoon University are focused on the education of humanism, world citizenship, and professional skills. In the year of 1999, it was ranked the 1st in the comprehensive evaluation of universities by The Collage Education Council and also in the management transparency evaluation by The Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development, S. Korea. Sunmoon University is becoming a model educational institute with emphasis on international exchanges and character education.
Students interested are required to submit the following documents
1) Application form for admission (available upon request);
2) Two letters of recommendation (forms available upon request);
3) Transcripts of undergraduate and/or graduate courses;
4) Official certificates of Bachelor’s/Master Degree and Certificates of Graduation;
5) Four photographs (4cm*5cm);
6) Resume;
7) A copy of passport;
8) A copy of English test score (TOEFL, TOEIC or IELTS, etc.)
