Should "the beginner is more likely than expert to make important discoveries" be true as the speaker asserts? In a sense, I agree with the statement that the beginner can bring great progress in some fields of inquiry. However, in most field of inquiry, the expert, rather than beginner can make a remarkable contribution.

Admittedly, the beginner has a significant positive impact on the process of establishment and development. They can bring the particular perspective of the certain information which utterly different from the limited laws and ideas. One story about recording in space can illustrate this point. When scientists are worry about using of pen in weightlessness. A child give a surprising suggestion: "Why do not use the pencil instead of ink-used pen". Although there is no effect of gravity, the graphite can work perfectly. The child knew little about physics, eventually he was not a beginner, but he gives such the ingenious idea for the reason that he was not regulated by the orthodox theory. Further more, the beginner dare to challenge and surpass authority, which bring the fresh blood to the scientific research. The authority might have some fallacious, it is necessary to have the mind of suspicion and criticism to take advantage of information available to us. Even Aristotle had the ungrounded conclusion of laws of falling bodies. Galileo established the correct theory as they are still formulated. Without a sense of suspicion and criticism, we will bog down in the marsh of conventional rules.

However, the narrowly focused perspective and superficial knowledge is the Achilles' heel of the beginner. Some tempting fantasies may difficult to realize, even impossible only because the depth of knowledge of the beginner. Standing at the nadir of scientific researching, a beginner cannot be in the possession of abilities to find out the true and full complexity of objects. A person who knows Theory of Relativity from popular science readings may earnestly pursue the time machine of passing through the tunnel of time and utterly ignorant about the great difficulty in exceeding the velocity of light. In this case the idea of beginner is meaningless fantasy and helplessness to inquiry field.

What is more, the creative idea of beginner is not a foolproof panacea to researchers. Any fields of inquiry should not overlook the crucial role of experience and rationality in scientific researching. The essential of science are rational deduction and a rigorous analysis of phenomenon to some extent. Take the discovery of Neptune for example. To account for wobbles in the orbit of the planet Uranus, two astronomy experts independently calculated the existence and position of a new planet. Using information from rational calculation, rather than creative idea, Neptune had been discovered.

In sum, the ingenious idea of beginner helps us break the conventional regulation of researching. The depth of knowledge and rationality make more lasting and meaningful contribution in achieving the great success. The way to inquiry in science is holds both of them in one's hand.
