奖励 student's efforts or achievement, which one is better

There is a general discussion over education in many universities and colleges these days; one of the questions under debate is which criterion should be applied to award students, their efforts or their achievements? As far as I am concerned, we should, definitely, award students according to their achievements. There are several reasons to name.

To begin with, I concede that taking students' efforts as an awarding standard is of great value, since it is conducive to improve our education. After all, it is to stimulate students' efforts and initiative that we plan and carry out an awarding mechanism. However, meaningful as it is, taking the efforts as a standard is not without its problems. In practice, it is quite difficult for us to measure students' efforts impartially and just. This is because students' efforts, as it stands, are subjective; and hence, it is fundamentally impossible to measure students' effort impersonally.

On the other hand, it is evident that students' achievements seems more convenience and easier to be measured fairly. Since what students have achieved and accomplished are relatively more apparent and measurable, we could set a definite and clear standard for awarding. In nature, only under special circumstances when the criterion is definite and clear for the students, can they understand how to fulfill the awarding requirement, and then set their goal and just strive for it. Needless to say, contrasted with the standard based upon students' efforts which is hard to measure, awarding students according to their achievements is a sensible alternative.

What is more important, taking into account the fact that achievements themselves are results of hardworking, it is reasonable to argue that awarding students according to their achievements could virtually help to advance their academic behavior. When we review the question why we need to award the excellent students, there is no denying that it is the improvement of students' academic behavior that we plan and implement all of these for. Now that our students' achievements are the right things we are pursuing, why do not we set the achievements as the standard?

In the final analysis, from what has been discussed above, we can safely draw the conclusion that the advantages of awarding students according to their achievements obviously outweigh that of awarding students according to their efforts. Therefore, nor is it entirely fanciful to argue that we should award students according to their achievements.

你同不同意電視主要的目的是教育，而非娛樂

There is a general discussion over television in our society these days; one of the questions under debate is what should be the main purpose of television, education or entertainment. As for me, I, definitely, maintain that it is entertainment that television should be mainly used for. There are several reasons to name.

To begin with, it is evident that television is a kind of effective implement to entertain people. Due to the great pressure and stress we undergo during work or study, we are in desperate need of certain measures to ease the strain and get relax. Needless to say, in this aspect, television is of great value. On television, we could watch movies, be informed entertainment news, and even play games as long as the television is connected to the Internet. Thus, it is reasonable to argue that we could use television to relieve our stress and for a pastime.

In the second place, because of the joy television brings to us, we could watch television together with our family after work, and hence it could be conducive to consolidate our family relationships. According to Lau's report (2007), a considerable number of families, consisting 35% of the families surveyed, broke up due to the limited time for family get-together. In this sense, if the content of TV becomes more attractive and interesting, then an increasing number of families would be willing to stay at home, watch television together and share the happiness, which could be helpful to improve our family relationships.

Admittedly, some people might be in favor of the statement that television should be utilized to educate people. Taking into account the fact that television has became widespread and available almost in every home, this claim does make sense to some degree. However, considering the fact that the most effective and available approach to educate people is to attend school and take classes, it is not necessary to apply television primarily as an education tool.

In the final analysis, from what has been discussed above, we can safely draw the conclusion that television could benefit us more as an entertainment tool than as an education measure. Therefore, nor is it entirely fanciful to argue that the main purpose of TV should be entertainment.

.D/DA: The best way to truly relax and reduce stress is to spend time alone

Due to the high pressure and stress people undergo from work, a considerable number of citizens are in desperate need of certain measures to ease the strain. Then a key question arises: what is the best way to truly relax and reduce stress? Some people insist that the best way exists in staying alone. But is it really the case? Obviously not.

In practice, there is no denying that people have a variety of measures to relieve their pressure; and different people tend to make different choices. Considering people's different habits and personalities, I maintain that the answer to this question, definitely, depends.

To begin with, I concede that for some people, especially those are introvert and like living in solitude, the best way to relieve strain might be to spent time alone. Owing to their nature, when they feel excessive stress and need to relax, they might go to visit some beautiful, small town; they might jog in parks near their communities; they might go to library and do some reading; they might even stay at home and listen to some music they like best... The most important thing is, they prefer to do all of these, alone; just because it is their nature to be more comfortable when they spent time alone.

On the other hand, some other people, typically those who are extrovert and tend to share their sentiment with friends, like to relieve their pressure by engaging in some activities with their families and friends. Like the introvert, thanks to their nature, to relax themselves, they might attend to parties with friends; they might do some sports like football and basketball; they might go shopping with their families...Apparently, they would do all of these with their friends and families, for the reason that they could, through these ways, release their pressure and be more comfortable.

In the final analysis, from what has been discussed above, we can safely draw the conclusion that to spend time alone is not the best method to reduce stress for all kinds of people. Therefore, nor is it entirely fanciful to argue that the ways of relaxation are of diversity; and the best way to relieve the strain for a specific person is the way which fits him/her best.

There is a general discussion over working in our society these days; one of the questions under debate is whether having a job to work with other people is better than having a job to work alone. Some people insist that working alone is better, because they might feel more freedom; while others, as I do, definitely maintain that having a job to work with others has more advantages than having a job to work alone. There are several reasons to name.

To begin with, it is evident that cooperation during work is conducive to increase working efficiency. When we work with other people, not only can we utilize different people's strength, but also work at the same time, which could ensure us to achieve our task effectively and efficiently. For example, when Microsoft Cooperation designs new software, hundreds of engineers cooperate for the same task; and consequently, their teamwork enables them to accomplish their work as soon as possible. In this sense, it is working with others that advances working efficiency.

Furthermore, working with other people could allow us to learn useful and practical knowledge from other experienced workers. When working with others, especially those who are more experienced, we can consult with them while confronting some difficulties during our work; and hence we can learn from their experience, which could benefit us quite a lot. Otherwise, if we have job to work alone, when we encounter some problems, we would have to resolve them by ourselves, without others' help.

What is more important, working with other people could enable us to make new friends. According to Lau's report (2007), a considerable number of people, consisting 75% of the people who participated in the survey, assert that some of their close friends are made during their work, which convincingly indicates the significance of working with others in terms of making friends. Let alone the instance of Zhen Chen, one of the most successful businessmen in China, maintain that amounts of his commercial opportunities were given by the friends he made during his work.

In the final analysis, from what has been discussed above, we can safely draw the conclusion that working with others has amounts of advantages. Therefore, nor is it entirely fanciful to argue that working with others is better than working alone.
