103 "The study of history has value only to the extent that it is relevant to our daily lives."

It has been increasingly difficult to ignore the significance of history research and study. The speaker asserts that the historical study is only valuable to the extent that it is relevant to our daily lives. The statement suffers a serious drawbacks because it paid little attention to the comprehensive significance of historical study to the society apart from that only related with peoole's daily life today. To evidence my standpoint, the following argument is open to all.

Admittedly, the research on history which is relevant to our daily life is profitable for modern people. To study history is not merely to study a narrative but also at the same time some theoretical studies. From past, the most precious values lie on the experience we have learnt. For example, when we analyse history from a economical point of view, researchers are likely to show the determining factors which influence the prosperity or depression of the society, such as the property, the distribution of wealth and the social condition of people. In doing this, researchers have drawn a conclusion of what people have done both benefited the economics and detrimental to society in order to take advantage of positive factors and avoid the negative ones from it to contribute to the prosperity of the contemporary society.

Nevertheless, although some histories are past and not being experienced by us today, it is also worthy being concentrated on in search of avoiding similar tragedies to occur again. In history of human beings' society, there was ever many tyrannical leaders ruling the country while obviously it disappears today in different states. However, in the popular rising against a "tyrannical government" by the historical researchers, the fruits are more than the securing of a free constitution. They included the growth of a nation in liberty by the will of people, not from the roots of common descent, a geographical entity, or the ambitions of king or dynasty. As a mirror of development of society, history provides us some serious lessons which may cause a disastrous consequence so that people are aware of it and will not suffer from the similar disasters, such as wars.

Last but not least, how significantly researchers conduct study on history? It goes without saying that history is the self consciousness of the mankind. The centuries unfold to us more and more the meaning of past times. Today we understand human being's history better than ancient people did under the guidelines by historical researchers, not only because we know how to use sources better, but also resulting from that the significance of events develops with time. The aim of history is to know the elements of the present by understanding what came into the present from the past . For the present is simply the developing past and the past is the undeveloped present. By history, we are more well-informed to how we are being today.

In summary, from such like and these considerations, it clearly appears that not merely historical studies related with people's daily life are valuable. The speaker's statement is inconclusive from the argument above. Today is so much a product of yesterday and yesterday can only be understood as explained by today. History, both objective and subjective, is ever becoming and never completed.
