"How children are socialized today determines the destiny of society. Unfortunately, we have not yet learned how to raise children who can help bring about a better society."

How children are socialized is indeed crucial for the long development of the society, but it is not the only determinant of her destiny. And the process of socialization is truly a tough assignment to    accomplish. Though there is still a long way for us to figure out a perfect way to raise children, we already learned some merits and skills to get close to the final target. The speaker's assertion that we have not learned how to raise children to bring a better society is apparent an overstatement and lack the fundamental suggestion of empirical experience.
The socialization of children could be defined as a process of transition from a young person who out of the society, into a socialized person who is fully involved in the events and circumstances happened in the society, and the people who can achieve their effect toward the society through the realization of their own goals. I fully agree that the education of the early age contribute largely to the personality of a single person. Unless a child is under a healthy environment of the maturation he (she) can grow up to be a reasonable, effective and civilized citizen who can help facilitate the evolvement of the human society. To understand this one need only to look at the school system where children receive the edification from their teacher, learn how to cooperate, agree, and speak their assertion in an efficient way to construct harmony, and where they can learn the bad effects of the behavior which lack the spirit of morality.
However, the socialization of children is only one aspect which we should investigate to build a more civilized society. There are many other factors need our concentration. The technological innovation, for example, is also crucial for the society's advancement in the long ran. Concerning the truth that we are in the Information Age, everything is progressed in an amazing speed, the internet could facilitate us to gain the abundant news in the first time. The medicines made by genetic technology could cure many diseases which human beings had worried about for decades. And the government regulation policy is another factor which can make us believe whether our society is better than before. Think about the German ruled by NIZI, whether they benefit from the regulation or they think it was a better society that Germany has never faced is a big query. But a good government with a good regulation will help the development of the economic and the society in the large aspect.
Now that the socialization of children is as important as other factors for us to make a better society, we must need to know how to achieve this goal. In fact, we already did some valuable tings, we taught our children the scientific knowledge and skills which were accumulated for centuries, hope that one day they are able to exert to rebuild our society; we taught them the essence of the right social value, let them grasp our social custom and culture to construct a beautiful tomorrow. But there are other aspects which we need to ameliorate. We need to emphasize not only the future material pleasure of the children but also the cultivation on the spiritual aspects; the safeguard toward our children from the unhealthy information such as pornographic and violent works need to be consolidated.
In the final analysis, though the socialization of the children plays an important part to better society, it is not the only one. As I mentioned, there are many other crucial factors exist. We tried hard to facilitate the children socialization, though we still have a long way to go, we already know something worth while to do.
