TOPIC: ISSUE17 - "There are two types of laws: just and unjust. Every individual in a society has a responsibility to obey just laws and, even more importantly, to disobey and resist unjust laws."
WORDS: 470
Outline:
1. 法律修订是权威的责任,而不是个人。可以提出异议,但不能不遵守
2. 无法简单的判断法律的公正与否
3. 如果个人不遵守其认为不公正的法律将导致严重的后果
In nowadays laws are indispensable mechanism which constituted by authorities to order our society. Considering laws' just and unjust, the speaker asserts that every individual should disobey and resist unjust laws. I don't agree with this assertion, to better present my perspective, let me illustrate it in details.
To begin with, let us consider this issue standing on the speaker's side. Since laws are constituted by persons, there must be some unjust regulations. Perhaps they are ill-considered or unsuitable with the progress of our society. So laws should be continually amended to accord with the interest of majority and to be adapted to the development of our society. However, is it the individual’s responsibility to disobey and resist unjust laws? In my eyes, it is unreasonable. If every individual has the right to oppugn laws, laws will become useless. Every individual will has their own excuse to disobey laws. In short, laws which every individual should obey can only be amended by authorities through normal step.
On the other hand, How to judge whether a law is just or unjust? For every individual's circumstance, education background, religious beliefs, and so on, vary from case to case. there will never be a unitive answer. For example, some religious think that one's life is not only belonging to oneself, so no one has the right to suicide, whereas, others have a totally opposite viewpoint. Whatever just or unjust, there is only one law of just for someone amount to unjust for others. Moreover, taking the benefit of the large society under consideration, there are also some unjust laws for some community. For instance, every country has its own impost to other country's commodities. It is unjust for any other country, which is just only for native industry. Furthermore, it is disadvantage for the development of global economy. In short, no matter for individual or the whole society, the just of laws is relatively not absolutely.
Finally, it can lead to a serious result if every individual disobey and resist unjust laws. For example, in Britain, every driver should drive on the left side of the road while drivers accustom to drive on the right side in many other countries. if a alien driver insists that the law is unjust for him, and resists it. The result is obvious. Deep down every individual is allowed to disobey and resist unjust laws, our society will become chaos. Many persons will express their dissatisfaction through bedin on the street. No body will obey the judgments of the court. Nevertheless, these behaviors are also illegal.
In sum, we can draw the conclusion that every individual should obey any laws. Because amending unjust law is the responsibility of authorities, and individual can't judge whether a law is just or unjust. If not, our society will be disordered. |
